Carlos Forbs’ stance now shared amid reports Wolves winger could head back to Ajax

It’s safe to say that it has not worked out for Carlos Forbs at Wolves.

Forbs was Wolves’ final signing of the summer window, joining on loan from the Dutch giants with Chiquinho heading out on loan to Spanish outfit Mallorca.

Wolves’ interest in the player had first been reported when the club were selling Pedro Neto to Chelsea, but it wasn’t until very late on deadline day that they signed him.

Wolves fans were excited to see what Forbs could bring to the table.

While he didn’t really thrive at Ajax, Forbs was prolific in the Manchester City academy.

Unfortunately, Forbs has failed to impress and now, he could be heading back to the Netherlands.

Earlier today, it was claimed Forbs could head back to Ajax having struggled at Wolves.

And now there has already been an update from the E&S about the situation.

They suggest what the player’s stance on the matter is, and say Forbs does indeed want to return to Ajax, rather than stick around and fight for his place at Molineux.

Interestingly, it’s stated there was never actually a recall option for Ajax in the deal that took Forbs to Wolves.

So now, the clubs are negotiating.

One thing that was included in the original deal was a buy option, which was said to be appearance-based.

Forbs must make significantly more appearances than Jorgen Strand Larsen currently has in order to sign for Wolves permanently. But given his chronic underuse at Molineux, there is little danger of Wolves landing him for £11.7 million.

Forbs a highly disappointing loan transfer

The Forbs move has been really disappointing. There is just no denying it.

He arrived to some hype, but it quickly became apparent that his prospects of becoming a regular in the team were slim.

Forbs just hasn’t convinced when coming off the bench, and earlier this season, Lee Naylor accused Forbs of being sloppy on the ball.

Gary O’Neil wasn’t taken by him and Vitor Pereira has also been reluctant to hand him minutes. When two managers don’t pick a player, it perhaps tells a story.

It is difficult to make a case for Forbs sticking around, and by the sounds of the above report, the player is keen for a change of scenery as well.
