Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster Ryan Giles yesterday completed a loan move to Cardiff City.

The 21-year-old is heading back to the Championship, following spells with Coventry City and Rotherham United in 2020/21.

He will work with former Molineux boss Mick McCarthy.

Speaking about his move, Giles said: “I’m delighted to be here.

“Cardiff is a massive club with massive, massive history. Amazing fanbase.

“They’ve got some good players here, some big boys as well and I think that will suit me down to the ground, really. I like to put crosses in the box.”

It is an opportunity for Giles to really showcase his talent, and hopefully make full use of the good aerial threats around him.

Striker Kieffer Moore, for example, is someone who’ll be looking to get on the end of his crosses.

That is one of the strongest parts of his game, with Wolves technical director Scott Sellars recently branding him one of the best young crossers in the country.

Fernando Marcal only has one year left on his contract at Molineux now.

It is therefore important for Giles to give a good account of himself if he wants to break into Wolves the first-team.

He might be up against it, with Jonny still only 27 years of age.

But it remains to be seen how the Spaniard will get on after a second serious knee injury.

He is also Rayan Ait-Nouri for competition.

On social media, fans have been reacting to news of Giles’ loan.

It is fair to say some Cardiff supporters are very excited by the capture, as they should be:
