Bundesliga club ‘agree deal’ to sign Wolves target as free agent, his medical is planned

Wolves continue to plug away in the transfer market, but one linked player appears to be heading elsewhere.

It has been a turbulent summer for Wolves, who have made three new signings so far.

Last week, David Moller Wolfe arrived from AZ Alkmaar, following Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias to Wolves.

But a host of players have left, so Vitor Pereira still needs a few more new faces.

And one position that is high on the agenda right now is right wing-back.

Nelson Semedo announced his exit from Wolves last week, finally putting an end to all the speculation.

Most of the talk has been about Juanlu Sanchez coming in with Wolves having an agreement in principle with Sevilla.

And that does look to be on track, with another target now heading elsewhere – in an update that will probably please a lot of fans.

Recently, it was suggested that Wolves were showing interest in Vladimir Coufal, who had just left West Ham United as a free agent.

It is safe to say that the reaction from Wolves fans to the Coufal links was largely negative.

Plenty felt that Wolves should be aiming higher, given the quality of Semedo.

But the chances of Coufal making a move to Wolves are now extremely slim, as it appears he is on course to join Hoffenheim.

Fabrizio Romano said on X: “Hoffenheim agree deal to sign former West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal.

“He’s already in Germany for medical tests and contract signing.”

Wolves fans will welcome Coufal development

So it looks like the prospect of Coufal coming to Wolves is no longer something for fans to consider, as he prepares to go to the Bundesliga.

But a lot of Wolves fans will actually be fairly pleased about this.

Coufal served West Ham well, but ultimately he’s a player who’ll soon turn 33 and is clearly someone who is past his prime.

Wolves just lost a top player in Semedo and bringing in Coufal on a free would not have been a popular move.

Perhaps this does point to a move for Sanchez being signed soon, which is far more exciting.
