Blow for Wolves in Kevin Danso transfer pursuit as one new club have pushed ‘in a very serious manner’

Wolves are hoping to sign Kevin Danso before the transfer deadline, but it will seemingly not be straightforward.

Wolves are crying out for new additions having started to struggle again of late.

After an initial bounce following the arrival of Vitor Pereira, Wolves now find themselves on a four-game losing streak in the Premier League.

Molineux officials are now scrambling to bolster the squad – and another new centre-back is on the agenda.

Wolves have seen two bids for Kevin Danso rejected so far, and now there has been a further blow.

Manager Will Still already cast doubt on Danso leaving Lens, claiming he doesn’t want to leave.

Now, it has been suggested by French journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter that Rennes have now joined the race for the Austria international.

He wrote on X yesterday evening: “Stade Rennais is going after Danso in a very serious manner!!”

Sebastien Denis of Foot Mercato states that Rennes are willing to put a lot of money on the table for the player. But he does suggest a ‘frosty’ relationship between Rennes and Lens may complicate matters.

This interest from Rennes is somewhat surprising, because they currently find themselves in the relegation zone over in Ligue 1.

They are the Wolves of France at the moment, as they sit third-bottom of the league.

It remains to be seen if their push for Danso will be successful. That said, Danso is on record as saying he wants to play in European competitions, which could be bad news for Rennes – and Wolves for that matter.

Serious problems if Rennes sign Danso over Wolves

If Rennes somehow manage to sign Danso over Wolves, then fans are going to be furious.

The need for another new centre-back in this window is clear, and Danso is a player who fits the bill having impressed at Lens for a long time now.

Rennes are in the relegation zone over in France. Wolves may be too in the Premier League, but you would think Wanderers stand a better chance of signing him over Rennes. Certainly, Wolves would be able to offer more money.

He has been a top target this month, despite him initially rejecting Wolves. So to miss out, and for Rennes to then sign him, would leave an extremely bitter taste.
