Aaron Ramsdale has emerged as a target for Wolves towards the end of the summer transfer window.
The Arsenal goalkeeper wants to leave the Emirates in search of regular minutes again, after he lost his place to David Raya.
Wolves have been in talks with Arsenal over a potential deal for the England international, and had reportedly made one loan bid with a £25 million option to buy.
This was always seen as a difficult deal to do, and one that would perhaps also hinge on Jose Sa leaving Molineux. This is because Ramsdale would not come just to be a number two again.
But it looks as though it won’t matter what happens with Sa now, because Ramsdale’s proposed move to Molineux is ‘off’.
Wolves’ move for Aaron Ramsdale off as it has ‘proved too expensive’

It is being reported this evening that Wolves will now not be signing Ramsdale.
As reported by Nick Mashiter of BBC Sport, the deal has simply ‘proved too expensive’ for Wolves.
The club made a loan bid for Ramsdale and had actually proposed a buy option of £20 million for next summer. But that has been rejected and seemingly that is now the end of it.
Some Wolves fans were against the idea of Ramsdale coming to Wolves due to his affiliation with bitter rivals West Bromwich Albion.
Ramsdale supported the Baggies growing up, and some of his antics against Wolves in the past have stuck in people’s minds.
But there were also a lot of people who did want him. Especially after seeing the poor performance of Sa against Chelsea at the weekend. So for those individuals, this news will not go down well.
Wolves must move on quickly
This is a fairly definitive update and it looks as though Ramsdale will not be making a move to Molineux before Friday’s deadline.
The fact Wolves were in talks over £120,000-a-week stopper Ramsdale does suggest something might be happening with Sa. So if that is the case, Wolves must now move on to another target if the Portuguese is going to leave.
Sam Johnstone of Crystal Palace is another player thought to be of interest to Gary O’Neil.
We could very well be seeing an increase in reports about him in the coming days. It has previously been suggested that Palace would want around £10 million to sell.
