Wolves could be in for a very busy summer next year and currently, it’s unclear whether they’ll be operating as a Premier League club or a Championship one.
Wolves have started the season poorly and currently sit 19th. But fixtures have been very difficult.
Gary O’Neil managed to get his first win of the season against Southampton, but it wasn’t a convincing performance at Molineux and it took two big moments of quality from Matheus Cunha to get the three points.
Hopefully, Wolves will not have to worry about any relegation battle next year, so the club can head into the summer still with Premier League status.
Ahead of that window, there is already one Wolves player being considered by a top club in Europe.
Barcelona interested in potential summer 2025 move for Hugo Bueno

Ahead of the 2024/25 season, Wolves sanctioned a loan move to Feyenoord for Hugo Bueno.
Bueno made a bright start to his Wolves first-team career when he came into the starting XI midway through the 2022/23 season.
He was very much in favour with Julen Lopetegui. Lopetegui branded Bueno ‘very professional’, and also tipped him to make great strides.
But he lost his starting berth when O’Neil came in. O’Neil much preferred Rayan Ait-Nouri, so Bueno now finds himself in the Netherlands.
But it’s been a great start for the Spaniard.
Feyenoord manager Brian Priske called Bueno ‘a big weapon for us’ recently, with the youngster having made three assists so far.
Dutch media also hailed Bueno after Feyenoord’s last Champions League game against RB Salzburg.
Bueno’s displays have now led to interest from Champions League giants and current La Liga leaders Barcelona, according to SPORT.
Hansi Flick is said to want a top level player to compete with Alejandro Balde, with Bueno, Alphonso Davies and Alvaro Carreras of Benfica all options.
Wolves may need Bueno for next season
This is an interesting claim from SPORT, but Wolves should not be too hasty in offloading Bueno if Barca do indeed make an approach for Bueno.
Bueno is a talented young left-back with big potential, who only finds himself in the position he does right now because Wolves have Ait-Nouri, who’s another player with massive potential.
Bueno for Wolves (2022-present) | Bueno for Feyenoord (2024-present) |
Appearances – 49 | Appearances – 10 |
Goals – 1 | Goals – 0 |
Assists – 1 | Assists – 3 |
But the Algerian could well leave for big money next year, and Wolves may like to hope that Bueno will be his natural replacement.
He was unlucky to lose his place, but O’Neil was simply not in a position to ever really drop Ait-Nouri he was that consistent.
Perhaps if it becomes clear that Ait-Nouri is going to stay, then Wolves should see what kind of offers arrive for Bueno. Bur Wanderers should certainly be looking for top dollar given his potential.
