Wolves look to be one of England’s busiest clubs between now and the end of the January transfer window.
The Old Gold were hoping to make some signings without losing their best players. Unfortunately, that doesn’t look like happening with Matheus Cunha heavily linked with leaving Molineux before Deadline Day.
Cunha is wanted by six Premier League clubs with Nottingham Forest expected to blink first and make a formal offer soon.
Should a bidding war for the Brazilian breakout, fans will expect him to leave the Midlands, and although that is a scenario most will dread, attention will immediately turn to his replacement.

Possible Matheus Cunha replacement could be heading to Premier League
Although their interest is unknown, fans have been quick to suggest Wolves’ owners should rival Everton for Sporting Lisbon’s Marcus Edwards.
The 26-year-old is a natural right-sided winger but can operate from the left, too. He also has experience playing centrally and would be a dynamic option for any manager’s attack.
David Moyes is rumoured to want to bring Edwards to Goodison Park but lots of Wolves fans think their club would be foolish to pass on the opportunity.
“Apparently he’s available for €12m. Unsure of the full details on why he’s been frozen out at Sporting but Wolves should be all over this,” Dave Azzopardi, founder of the Talking Wolves podcast, posted on X.
Responding to the host, one fan said: “Mentioned him when he was st Vitoria, decent option and home grown.”
Another added: “Makes too much sense which is why we won’t do it.”
While many agree Edwards could be a low-cost option, especially if one attacker leaves, there is a major red flag hanging over the London-born forward.
Discipline concerns are major red flag
Edwards has a chequered disciplinary record. He was late arriving to Sporting Lisbon’s cup final against Benfica last week — a game the Lions lost on penalties.
And with such concerns over his discipline, fans aren’t sure whether pursuing the 26-year-old would be a smart move.
“Had murder with the manager and hierarchy, late to training all the time etc. player there definitely but attitude is the issue,” one fan said on X.

“Poor attitude huh? Should fit in well! Concern is Cunha looks like he is going but now there are so many suitors doing a deal that is in any way justifiable to Mr Guo when he turns up will take time. Same time replacement options are limited by time, finances & our position,” another added.
A third fan said: “Bad attitude is what I read so he’ll fit right in.”
A damning assessment, not just of how Edwards would fit in, but also of the state of Wolves’ squad.
Although fans won’t want to see the back of Cunha, maybe he should go sooner rather than later to avoid the bad attitudes and demands to leave spreading throughout the rest of the camp.
