Ansu Fati’s father has said the winger will be staying at Barcelona this summer, following transfer links to Wolves.
It was claimed yesterday that Wanderers had an interest in signing the Spain international.
Apparently Wolves were keen, as were Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United. It was suggested that Barca were looking for around £35 – £44 million to sell the player.
But some new quotes from Bori Fati have emerged.
And it looks as though a summer exit is no longer on the cards.
Mundo Deportivo quote him as saying: “If Ansu stays at Barça? Yes, yes, for sure. We are very happy.”
This comes after the agent Jorge Mendes touched down in Barcelona yesterday ahead of talks. The Portuguese supposedly met with the Fatis yesterday evening to discuss his current situation.
Fati’s future has been up in the air because of a lack of game time at the Nou Camp.
He has been struggling to start games under Xavi, who has preferred to use other options in the wide areas.
Bori Fati had previously stated that the situation had made him angry, and that he wanted his son to leave.
Wolves’ hopes of signing Ansu Fati short-lived as new Bori Fati comments emerge
The initial link to Fati had some Wolves fans very excited on social media.
But it looks as though a move will not be happening given these comments from the player’s father.
That’s a shame because Fati would have been an extremely exciting signing.
While he has lost prominence at the Nou Camp in recent times, he remains a hugely talented young player.
Potentially, he could have made for a fine replacement for Adama Traore in terms of being a very fast wide player.
