The club have moved to try and further Silva’s development, after he struggled for opportunities last season.

The youngster was firmly behind Raul Jimenez in the pecking order at Molineux.

And at times, Bruno Lage also preferred to play the likes of Hwang Hee-chan and Daniel Podence though the middle.

The move has split Wolves fans, with some having wanted him to stay at the to push Jimenez.

Other felt a loan move is exactly what he needs.

Ideally, he will enjoy a similar kind of season to what Morgan Gibbs-White did with Sheffield United.

That is something Scott Sellars suggested had played a part in the club’s decision.

Silva’s move was announced this morning, and Anderlecht’s CEO Peter Verbeke gave his immediate reaction. Needless to say, he is delighted with the capture.

He told the club’s official website: “Fábio is known as one of the most talented strikers of his generation in Europe. He combines physical intensity and grinta with scoring ability.

“Although he has only just turned 20, he already has 2 years of experience in the Premier League. Fábio’s arrival is important because we have a lot of games to play in a short space of time and because we want to compete on all three fronts.”

Big praise from Anderlecht’s CEO, and Fabio Silva must now prove himself in Belgium

That is a big compliment from Verbeke, and his verdict is likely to make Silva feel good upon joining the club.

Silva does have all the traits to become a top-class centre-forward.

It is simply about him playing regularly and discovering that ruthless streak.

During his time in England so far, he has shown himself to be a player with fantastic movement, and his attitude and work-rate are excellent.

He’s just still so young, and the price tag has probably not really helped him.

Hopefully this move will be the making of Silva, and he can prove Verbeke right in his assessment.
