A player Wolves reportedly had interest in this summer finds himself in a mysterious situation.
The 2025 summer window will not be fondly remembered by Wolves fans.
A host of players left the club, and Wolves have signed a bunch of players who have no experience of the Premier League, in what is undoubtedly a big gamble.
At the end of the window, the hope was that the club would sign a new midfielder.
Tommy Doyle and Boubacar Traore were both loaned out weeks before, and the feeling was that Wolves would land cover. Vitor Pereira was certainly keen for that to happen.
But Wolves didn’t do that, with Jeff Shi claiming he and Pereira mutually decided not to sign a midfielder in the end, as the right option didn’t come up.
One player Wolves reportedly showed interest in was Nicolas Raskin – who now finds himself in a bit of a peculiar situation.
Ally McCoist left baffled by Wolves-linked Nicolas Raskin’s situation

Raskin is a player who has courted attention in recent times.
Last term, he won Rangers’ Player of the Season, and is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in Scotland.
But he was recently left out of the Rangers squad by Russell Martin against Celtic, and there was strong speculation he’d leave on transfer deadline day.
That didn’t happen in the end, with it being reported Raskin had not wanted to leave and was due for a clear-the-air meeting with Martin.
But at the weekend, he was again left out against Hearts, despite being fit to play, and the situation has left pundit Ally McCoist perplexed.
He said on talkSPORT: “Now, there’s obviously a problem with Raskin. There’s no doubt about that, something has happened.
“But from where I’m sitting, you cannot bite your nose off to spite your face.
“If you’ve got a problem with Raskin – and he [Russell Martin] clearly has – I think he’s got to let the public know what that problem is.
“Because we’re all sitting there watching that game at the weekend, and Raskin would walk into that team.
“He scored for Belgium during the week in an international.
“There’s nobody on the planet going to tell me that Raskin should not be in the Rangers starting XI. Why is he not in the starting XI?
“There has to be an incredible reason for it, because you can’t leave him out if it’s to the detriment of the team.”
In what could point to a January exit, Raskin’s best friend Walid Cheref has said (via Rangers Review) ‘I know there is a lot of interest around him’.
Wolves should monitor Raskin situation
There is obviously plenty of time until the January transfer window rolls around, but perhaps this strange Raskin situation is one for Wolves to keep an eye on.
Wolves should have got a new midfielder in and the anger when that didn’t happen was totally understandable.
Raskin potentially could be available in January if his situation remains like this, and Wolves should be on hand to test the waters.

Wolves would have to free up a non-homegrown player spot in order to make something happen.
But Raskin could really be a fine addition for Wolves, who are lacking technicians in midfield now.
Barry Ferguson previously hailed Raskin, saying: “Nico can play in the Premier League all day long. I worked with him for three months. He has all the attributes and is still at a brilliant age.”
So we will see what happens with the Belgian maestro, and if Wolves eventually consider making an approach.
