All roads now lead £25m transfer target to Wolves after what his manager just did

Wolves could have a better chance than ever to land one long-standing transfer target this summer.

The Old Gold are working to bolster Vitor Pereira’s squad, with a lot of change happening at Molineux already.

Only Fer Lopez has arrived so far, but there’s been a mass change behind the scenes as Matt Hobbs left his post as sporting director

On the transfer front, Lopez has been the only incoming; however, several figures have already left Wolves, with Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri departing shortly after the window opened.

Pablo Sarabia is also gone, with Nelson Semedo expected to follow, and now, there are also question marks about Jose Sa’s future.

Wolves handed Christos Mandas transfer boost

It’s been reported that Pereira wants to sign a new goalkeeper this summer, which comes as no surprise, as Sam Johnstone is set to leave

Sa was impacted by the mess that Johnstone’s arrival caused, as Hobbs’ decision to sign the shot-stopper from Crystal Palace caused the Portugal international to feel unsettled.

Wolves already have a name on their transfer list to replace Sa if the 32-year-old were to leave this summer, with Christos Mandas a target.

Gary O’Neil had an interest in Mandas, as that hasn’t changed, with the Greece international still very much appearing on Wolves’ radar.

The player himself commented on the situation, as Mandas revealed that Wolves plan to approach him after failing to secure his transfer in 2024.

In a recent update, the Old Gold’s desire to sign the goalkeeper was mentioned again, as La Lazio Siamo Noi shared an interesting development.

Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri is planning to keep Mandas as the club’s second choice going into the new season.

As a result, it’s thought that the player could ‘seriously consider’ offers that are ‘arriving’ from Wolves, who are claimed to be ‘always interested’ in the 23-year-old.

Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb reported that Lazio’s asking price for the Greek star is €30m (£25m).

Wolves must be proactive with Mandas

Being an international player at the age of 23, Wolves could strike gold by signing Mandas, who is desperate to secure regular football between the sticks.

Not only is Sa’s future at Molineux not promised, but also, the Portugal international needs sufficient competition and Wolves need to eye his eventual successor.

Mandas could be that player, particularly after Sarri’s plans for next term were revealed, which could prompt the goalkeeper to consider Wolves’ interest.

What Wolves won’t want is to leave it until late in the window to sign a goalkeeper, as the horrors of Johnstone’s late move can’t be repeated.
