Wolves are being linked with a move for Aaron Ramsdale at the moment – and there is something a little awkward about the Arsenal goalkeeper.
It is being suggested that Wolves are keen to bring the England international to Molineux, with David Ornstein claiming a loan proposal has now been made, with an option to buy.
Ramsdale lost his status as Arsenal’s number one last season following the arrival of David Raya.
He’s expected to depart the Emirates in the coming days, and Wolves are in talks with Arsenal over a potential deal.
The likelihood is that Ramsdale would only come if Jose Sa was leaving, as he would not change clubs just to sit on the bench again.
But some Wolves fans do not want this particular move to happen due to one thing about Ramsdale.
Wolves target Aaron Ramsdale is a West Brom fan

For those unaware, Ramsdale actually grew up supporting Wolves’ bitter rivals West Bromwich Albion.
By his own admission in an interview with the official England website, he had a kit when he was younger. He is quoted as saying: “West Brom was my team growing up and I still look out for them now, although it becomes more difficult when you start playing against them.
“West Brom was passed down through my dad and his family, which was fortunate because we didn’t live too far away so now and then we would pop over to see them at the Hawthorns or when they played Stoke.
“My first real memory of West Brom was probably ‘The Great Escape’ in the 2004-05 season where they stayed up on the last day. That really got me hooked and I supported them until I came into the professional game.”
Also in February 2022, Ramsdale featured for Arsenal against Wolves in the Premier League. After the Gunners won 1-0 at Molineux, Ramsdale celebrated passionately with the away fans, and also gave some to the Wolves fans.
The player’s brother wrote on X: “BOING BOING. Baggie growing up. Gooner for Life. Up the @Arsenal @WBA.”
Then in the reserves fixture just a couple of weeks later, Ramsdale again celebrated right in front of away Wolves fans after a late winner from Alexandre Lacazette.
Many Wolves fans will be against potential Ramsdale deal
If Wolves do go on to sign Ramsdale, then there will be quite a few fans who won’t be happy.
Obviously, Craig Dawson is an actual former West Brom player who now plays for Wolves. But he has endeared himself to the Molineux faithful with his performances and impact on the backline. And before joining the club, he had never done anything to wind up the Wolves fans.
Ramsdale’s previous antics have not been forgotten by some sections of the fanbase, and for many, it will be hard to get behind him if he joins, at least initially. Certainly, an apology to the fans would not go amiss if he does end up signing for Wolves.
It will be fascinating to see if this proposed deal does come to fruition.
Perhaps we could be in for a Matt Doherty-style transfer announcement. When he joined Tottenham Hotspur from Wolves, Spurs played on the fact that he had made pro-Arsenal tweets when he was younger.
