A surprise Premier League club have entered the race for Wolves’ Matheus Cunha – he’s their top target

The immediate future of Wolves star Matheus Cunha is set to dominate the headlines in the coming days.

Cunha had looked all set to sign a new contract at Wolves, having been in talks with the club for weeks.

A verbal agreement was recently reached, however, there has been no final breakthrough between club and player.

On Monday, before Wolves’ game with Chelsea, it was reported Cunha and his agent were stalling over the proposed new contract.

Cunha drew criticism for his performance against Chelsea, with Vitor Pereira also calling out Cunha for his body language after the game.

The situation is a concern, and now, a huge claim has been made regarding a new club showing interest in the Brazilian.

It was reported last night by the Daily Mail that Nottingham Forest have now entered the race for Cunha – and they are making Wolves’ talisman their top target.

It is a stunning claim, with Forest clearly very serious about securing Champions League football for next season.

Currently, they are flying high in the Premier League, sitting third in the table with 44 points – level with Arsenal.

Former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has done a terrific job at the City Ground, and his superiors are clearly ready to help him bolster the squad to try and achieve their objectives.

The Daily Mail say there is ‘serious interest’ from Forest, and there is also mention of the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea being keen.

Cunha highly unlikely to seal Nottingham Forest transfer

While the situation is starting to get a bit murky with Cunha as the end of the transfer window approaches, there is surely next to no chance he will join Forest.

Wolves are said to want around £80 million for Cunha. Even if the club drop that asking price in the event of Cunha trying to force an exit, it just doesn’t seem likely that Forest will have that kind of money to spend.

Cunha knows he has interest from top clubs and will surely be looking at the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea before Forest, if he is indeed to leave Molineux.

People will laugh at Forest’s ‘serious interest’ in Cunha. But at least they are showing a bit of ambition, which can no longer be said for Fosun at Wolves.
