Wolves attempted to sign a player in January and failed – but there’s now been a development that may put Vitor Pereira on red alert.
Wolves brought in three new players in January – Emmanuel Agbadou, Nasser Djiga and Marshall Munetsi.
Djiga and Munetsi both signed for Wolves on deadline day, and it has been seen as a productive month in the end.
Agbadou has been particularly impressive, although he is now injured. Agbadou won Wolves’ Player of the Month award for January, and fans are hoping he’ll be back in the picture very soon.
One player Wolves looked at in January but didn’t sign, was Hidemasa Morita.
Wolves were interested in Morita, but didn’t want to pay the £8.3 million Sporting CP were demanding.
But there is potentially good news now for Wolves if the club still hold an interest.
Wolves target Hidemasa Morita refuses new contract at Sporting

It’s been claimed by A Bola that Morita is set to leave Sporting this summer, having turned down a contract extension offered by the club.
It is stated that with the player being 29 years of age, he would now like to try other leagues.
He’s ready to leave the club this summer, and is said to have already informed the Lions of his decision.
Morita is under contract until the summer of 2026, but Sporting don’t want to take the risk of him leaving for free.
They will therefore negotiate with other clubs over the player this summer.
Sporting would again be hoping for around £8.3 million to sell, but Wolves will likely seek a a deal for lower given they were unwilling to pay that amount in January.
Rui Borges is a big fan of Wolves target Morita
Wolves love a cut-price deal, and it’ll be interesting to see if an approach is made for Morita this summer following this claim that he won’t be signing a contract extension at Sporting.
Morita doesn’t really fit Wolves’ transfer model.
In recent years, the club have mainly focused on signing younger players for lower fees, with the intention of turning them into potential superstars within a few years.
The likes of Pedro Neto, who left last year to join Chelsea, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Joao Gomes were all plucked from relative obscurity for modest fees and are now household names.
But Morita could be a decent addition for Wolves his manager Rui Borges is certainly a fan.
He’s quoted by A Bola as saying: “Morita impressed me a lot. When we work with the players, we are even more impressed. He has a very above-average intelligence, very good decision-making. He impressed me, yes.”
