£5m player is now very keen to join Wolves this summer

Wolves are looking to sign Aaron Cresswell from West Ham United – and the player’s stance has now been revealed.

Wanderers are seeking to sign the 33-year-old, which has come as something of a surprise to many fans.

Left-back was not a position fans expected the club to address this summer.

Julen Lopetegui has great options in the form of Hugo Bueno, Rayan Ait-Nouri and the returning Ryan Giles.

This interest in Cresswell surely means one of those players would leave.

At the moment, Wolves and West Ham are in talks and apparently the Hammers were not happy with Wolves’ opening bid of £2.5 million.

But there is a potential boost for Wolves because information regarding the player’s stance has now been shared.

Aaron Cresswell open to Wolves move

According to the West Ham correspondent at The Athletic Roshane Thomas, Cresswell is actually thought to be keen on a move to Molineux.

He shares a report that states Wanderers are looking at other options for Ait-Nouri, who only started nine league games last season.

Cresswell has just one year remaining on his contract at the London Stadium.

It has been suggested that West Ham would be looking for about £5 million to sell.

But given the stance of the player, it may well be that there is an opportunity for Wolves to get him for less.

That said, Wolves poached Craig Dawson in January and West Ham have seen how much he has strengthened Julen Lopetegui’s backline.

Surely they don’t want that happening with another player.

Potential for Cresswell to agitate for a move

West Ham seem determined to secure around £5 million for any sale of Cresswell.

But it might well be that Cresswell’s stance forces them to accept a bit less.

That will certainly be the hope of the Wolves officials, who know finances are tight this summer.

It remains to be seen if something will happen, but it’s surely a boost that Cresswell is open to the switch.

Given the Hammers are reportedly looking to bring in a younger left-back, it is little wonder why he may be ready to leave.
