3 Barcelona players Wolves could ask for as giants reportedly target Ruben Neves

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves is again on the radar of Barcelona.

SPORT have reported the Spanish giants are looking to land the 25-year-old, and that they see him as a potential replacement for Sergio Busquets.

Supposedly, Barca have reignited their interest in the player having initially felt a deal couldn’t be done.

Apparently, agent Jorge Mendes could be key in facilitating a deal.

An interesting part of the report from SPORT is that Wolves are claimed to be interested in ‘a few’ Barca players.

Ideally, Wolves won’t be doing business with Barca over Neves, and the player will want to remain at Molineux.

But here are a few stars the club could perhaps look to include on top of a big cash offer for Neves if it came to it.

3 players Wolves could look to include in any Ruben Neves to Barcelona deal

Riqui Puig

Central midfielder Puig has found minutes hard to come by this season.

The 22-year-old has a lot of competition for his position, which is making it hard for him to feature.

Puig was actually linked with Wolves earlier this year, and it had also been suggested Barcelona could seek to offer Puig in a potential swap deal to land Adama Traore permanently.

He is young player with huge potential, and has previously been likened to Andres Iniesta. A report from SPORT back in 2018 detailed how he once left Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez ‘astonished’ in training.

He is certainly some Wolves could look to include as part of any Neves to Barca deal.

Clement Lenglet

Lenglet is a player Barcelona will try to move on this summer, and Wolves could perhaps request that he is included in a cash-plus-player deal for Neves.

The 15-cap France international is 26 years old and has been with Barca since 2018 after joining from Sevilla.

He’s made 153 La Liga appearances across those two clubs to date.

Wolves could well be bidding farewell to Romain Saiss at the end of the season given his contract expires.

There is apparently an offer on the table, but the Morocco international could well decided he wants a fresh challenge.

Wolves also need a long-term replacement for 31-year-old Willy Boly, who has again had fitness issues this season.

Memphis Depay

Following the arrivals of Ferran Torres, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Adama Traore in January, opportunities have been a little scarce for Depay.

The former Manchester United man only joined Barca last year, but his Nou Camp stint could be short-lived.

Wolves should consider asking for him to be included in any Neves sale.

While his injury record would make him a slight risk, Depay has really kicked on since leaving English football in 2017.

He scored 76 goals in 178 games for Lyon, and has a respectable tally of 11 in 33 for Barca this term.

He has also been in sizzling form for the Netherlands since late 2020.

Bruno Lage wants a new striker this summer. And Depay, who is in his prime at the age of 28, could be an excellent addition and solid alternative to Raul Jimenez and Fabio Silva.
