Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi has reportedly signed with a new agent and is said to be keen for a new challenge next summer – after Wolves were heavily linked.
That is the claim from journalist Florian Plettenberg this morning.
Elvedi was a player Wolves looked at in the summer, but a move never materialised as this was when the club were struggling financially.
In the end, the 27-year-old stayed put with the Bundesliga outfit and the player admitted that all the speculation was ‘intense’.
But seemingly, Elvedi is open to moving on from Gladbach in 2024…
Wolves 2023 summer target Nico Elvedi ‘open for a new challenge’ next year as he signs with Pini Zahavi

This morning, journalist Florian Plettenberg has provided an update on Elvedi’s situation.
The central defender has apparently now started working with a different agent in Pini Zahavi, who is one one of the most renowned agents in the game.
Plettenberg says that Elvedi is ‘open for a new challenge’ next summer, despite being contracted to Gladbach until 2027.
Interestingly, Plettenberg adds that there is a market in England for Elvedi. His does not mention Wolves specifically, but given how frequently he was linked in the summer, it’s possible Wanderers are still keen.
So far this season, Elvedi has made 14 appearances across all competitions for Gladbach, helping the team to 10th place so far.
Elvedi one to watch
So Elvedi is looking for a new challenge next summer and has changed his agent.
It will be interesting to see if Wolves do go back in for him, now that the club are in a better position financially.
Of course, the club went on to sign Santiago Bueno in the summer and there are now four centre-back options at Molineux.
Realistically though, Craig Dawson – as good as he still is – is 32 years old and it may be wise for Wolves to think about a long-term replacement for him next year.
Elvedi was statistically the best passer in the Bundesliga last season, and seems like he’d be a great signing and someone who would not break the bank to bring in.
