After failing to secure a move to Wolves in the summer, it is now being reported that defender Nico Elvedi could sign a contract extension at Borussia Monchengladbach.
Elvedi was a player Wolves strongly considered signing.
The club were linked with a move for him for weeks.
But the narrative was always that Wolves could not really afford the Switzerland international.
Meanwhile, Gladbach did not play Elvedi in any matches so as not to jeopardise any transfer.
But that transfer never came for the player, who ended up staying put.
And it looks as though he could actually now be sticking around a little while longer…
Nico Elvedi could now sign new contract at Borussia Monchengladbach
It has been reported by BILD that Elvedi could actually now put pen to paper on a new contract.

It had previously been reported that Elvedi did not intend to extend his deal with the German outfit.
But Elvedi did make some comments last week suggesting that he is quite happy at the club.
And it looks as though he could actually now extend.
Elvedi is said to have reconsidered, and is now willing to commit his future to the club.
Interestingly, it is suggested that a contract agreement could include a pretty low release clause of £8.5 million (GFNG) for the player.
Wolves could still move for Elvedi in the future
So it looks as though Elvedi could soon agree fresh terms with Gladbach, which is interesting considering he was seemingly very ready to leave in the summer.
Him agreeing a new deal would potentially be bad news for Wolves on the face of it, if there were plans to swoop. But if it’s true there could be an £8.5 million release clause, then that surely means there will be another opportunity to land him. It’s a pretty affordable clause, even for Wolves.
At least for now, Wanderers have been able bring in Santi Bueno, who the club have high hopes for.
Bueno was a player Wolves took an interest in at the start of the summer.

And ultimately he was the club’s choice over Elvedi, after funds became available through the sale of Matheus Nunes.
Wolves will hope the Uruguayan can hit the ground running. Because Wolves have not looked great defensively in the opening games.
