Wolves are reportedly looking to sign Nico Elvedi – and the star’s girlfriend has apparently given a move to Wolverhampton her blessing.
Speculation has been rife in the last couple of days about the central defender from Borussia Monchengladbach.
It has been suggested that Wolves have been in talks over the 26-year-old.
And yesterday, Sport Bild stated that he would be making a move to the club, for a fee in the region on £7.7 million, and that Gladbach were already looking to use the money from his sale to buy one of their targets.
And now another interesting claim has been made.
Nico Elvedi’s girlfriend has already been to Wolverhampton
Yesterday, Blick gave a rather interesting slant to the Elvedi to Wolves story.
They have claimed that Elvedi’s long-term partner Alexandra recently visited the city and its surroundings. ‘Apparently she gave her okay’, they report.
Elvedi was apparently already convinced of the move.
According to the publication, Julen Lopetegui has been key in the player wanting the move.
Lopetegui is an advocate for possession football, and Elvedi is very much a ball-playing defender.
Last season, he finished as the Bundesliga’s top passer, posting a completion rate of 91.7%.
Wolves need to get Elvedi signed
This is quite the claim from Blick.
Whether Alexandra visited Wolverhampton or not though, Wolves need to just get Elvedi signed.
The 26-year-old looks to be a brilliant solid defender and someone who will help improve the team playing out from the back.
The new season is edging closer and Wolves need new faces through the door now.
Elvedi coming to Molineux would definitely be a positive first (or second after Matt Doherty) signing.
