£15m Man Utd flop now a surprise name on Wolves shortlist to replace Pedro Neto before Deadline Day

Wolves are pushing hard to find a suitable replacement for Pedro Neto before deadline day.

Gary O’Neil will be eager to bolster his squad before the transfer window slams shut in eight days time.

After offloading Pedro Neto to Chelsea, the manager has the task of replacing the Portugal international using Wolves’ limited transfer budget

Several possible targets have already emerged as players who could fit O’Neil’s system, with one unlikely former Premier League star now coming to light as a figure Wolves want.

Wolves are targeting Wilfried Zaha to replace Pedro Neto

While Wolves will have a difficult time finding a direct replacement for Neto, O’Neil must find a positional equal to the departed ace.

That person could be Wilfried Zaha, as The Sun have now reported, with the Ivorian hunting a new club after falling out of favour at Galatasaray.

Zaha joined the Turkish champions last summer from Crystal Palace however, things have not worked out for the 31-year-old, with a return to England now possibly on the cards.

The Sun’s report has placed a £9m price tag on the winger, who ventured outside of England for the first time in his career to join Galatasaray in 2023.

Zaha is a practical option for Wolves

Manchester United signed Zaha back in 2013 from Palace for a fee of £15m before the forward re-joined the South London club permanently once more less than two years later.

The theme of Zaha’s career has been that away from the comforts of Selhurst Park, the 31-year-old has struggled to perform, which was evident last season at Galatasaray.

While the wide man did net nine Super Lig goals for the Lions, he has fallen out of favour at the club, with Wolves now eyeing his services.

After losing Neto, a move for the Premier League veteran could be seen as underwhelming for some however, the fact remains that it’s a practical transfer for the Old Gold to target at this moment.

Despite generating great profile from the sales of Neto and Max Kilman, Wolves do not have money to spend due to where they stand with PSR, making the prospect of acquiring Zaha for £9m quite attractive.

The issue is that the Midlands club aren’t the only side eyeing the winger, with Palace said to be discussing a loan and Leicester City also credited with interest.

It would be fascinating to see Zaha return to the Premier League a year after his exit, with a move to Molineux now considered a possibility.
