£13.5m man set to leave Molineux on loan, as Wolves announce Doherty

Wolves defender Ki-Jana Hoever is reportedly in talks to join Stoke City on loan again.

Last season, the Dutchman joined the Potters for the second half of the campaign.

Hoever started the season at PSV Eindhoven but struggled for minutes, prompting Wolves to facilitate a new move for him.

He joined Stoke on loan, and impressed in the Championship.

He made 17 appearances across all competitions.

And he impressively chipped in with four goals, with two of those coming in a 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers.

Hoever has been back in pre-season training with Wolves – but it looks as though his time at the club could soon be coming to a temporary end again.

It is stated that the Dutchman’s exit ‘will be sanctioned’ by Wolves, with the club having now officially signed Matt Doherty.

Wanderers have finally swooped for the Republic of Ireland international on a free transfer. The player underwent his medical yesterday.

Hoever only has two years left on his contract with Wolves.

It is unclear at this stage whether Wolves would want to include an option to buy clause.

A chance for Hoever to have his best season

Hoever’s time at Wolves so far has been pretty forgettable.

He arrived at the club at the same time as Nelson Semedo for £13.5 million, and has played second fiddle to him for the most part.

Perhaps he was a bit unlucky not to feature more.

But Hoever never really made a case to be a regular starter when at Molineux.

His last loan spell with Stoke was promising.

If he goes back there then that will be good because he knows the team, the system and the manager.

It would be a chance for him to have the best season of his career to date.

Hopefully, he would return to Wolves in a year and either become a first-team option or be sold for a decent fee.
