£12m Newcastle man holds talks with ‘several clubs’ as exit nears, amid Wolves transfer interest

Wolves are looking to make a couple more signings after Emmanuel Agbadou.

Vitor Pereira managed to get his first new face through the door last week, as Wolves brought in Agbadou from Reims for a reported fee of £16.6 million.

Fans have been crying out for a new centre-half, after seeing Wolves ship 45 goals in just 20 Premier League games so far.

Wolves were reported to want to give Pereira two new defensive recruits this month, but there is scope for other additions to be made.

It would seem Wolves have been looking at potential new forwards, and one player who’s been linked with a move is Miguel Almiron.

Wolves were linked with a loan move for Almiron in December – and a new claim has now been made about the Paraguay international.

It’s been reported by The Telegraph that Almiron’s time at Newcastle looks to be coming to an end.

Clubs in the United States, Brazil and Europe have made contact over the winger, and conversation have taken place regarding a transfer away from St. James’ Park.

It’s stated that Newcastle have been looking for a fee of around £12 million to sell Almiron. This comes after it was originally claimed Almiron could cost in the region of £16-20 million.

But thus far, no club has been willing to offer £12 million.

Wolves are not mentioned in the report as being keen. But the club were linked back in December and it’s not out of the question a move could be made.

Especially given players like Hwang Hee-chan, Goncalo Guedes and Pablo Sarabia have all been linked with exits.

Almiron would be a decent squad player for Wolves

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens with Almiron in this window, as seemingly he doesn’t have a future at Newcastle.

Whether Wolves come in for him or not remains to be seen.

But certainly, if one of those three aforementioned Wolves players were to leave then Almiron would not be such a bad signing.

Miguel Almiron for Newcastle (January 2020-present)
Appearances – 221
Goals – 30
Assists – 12

He is not someone who posts huge goals and assists numbers, although Premier League watchers will know he definitely has a purple patch in him.

But Almiron is a player who always works his socks off, potentially making him a decent replacement for Hwang – who has been linked with West Ham United – especially.

If he fancied staying in the English top-flight and Newcastle were prepared to lower their demands, perhaps we could see something happen here.
