£10k-a-week Wolves player now set to stay, there’s too little time to replace him

One Wolves player is set to stay at Molineux, with it being suggested there is too little time left in the transfer window to replace him.

It is a very busy day for Wolves.

Fans are still waiting for midfielder Andre to be confirmed as a new signing, and there are a few players who could be on their way out.

Daniel Podence now appears to be the most likely exit, with Al-Shabab seemingly beating Olympiacos to the winger.

Midfielder Luke Cundle is also poised to rejoin Stoke City on loan, after spending the second half of last season with the Potters.

Someone else who might have been on his way out today is Dan Bentley, but there has now been an update to suggest otherwise.

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Arsenal had registered their interest in Bentley.

The Gunners were looking to sign him and had made one bid of £50,000, which was swiftly rejected by Wolves.

Bentley has been one of a handful of Wolves players with the potential to leave today.

But according to The Athletic, the £10,000-a-week stopper is now set to stay at Molineux. The Gunners did make a new enquiry about Bentley today.

Wolves were said to be unwilling to action a move though, because ‘they will have limited time to find a replacement for the Englishman’.

Bentley staying is very interesting

That Bentley is now set to stay at Wolves is interesting, with the club obviously signing Sam Johnstone today.

Bentley has been Wolves’ number two goalkeeper, and Johnstone may well have only sealed his £10 million move from Crystal Palace to become a new number one.

It may well be that something will happen with Jose Sa in the final hours of the window. We know his agents have been looking to broker a move to Saudi Arabia for him.

Given the Saudi deadline does not shut tonight, it could be that Sa does move on in the coming days.
