There were not many games at Wolves where Vitinha looked like he could have become the player he is today, but there were some signs that Fosun missed.
The Portuguese midfielder has been taking the headlines over the last year for his exceptional performances for PSG.
In the last 12 months, he has won the Champions League, won the Nations League, and Vitinha has come third in the Ballon d’Or.
It is truly a remarkable transformation from the player who could not even make his way into the Wanderers’ starting XI during his loan spell.
But his only goal for the club hinted towards his world-class qualities.
Vitinha’s only goal for Wolves was incredible

Vitinha scored just one goal for Wolves in a 1-0 win in the FA Cup against sixth-tier side Chorley.
While the level of opposition is nothing to rave about, the quality of the goal the Portuguese midfielder scored is certainly worth praise.
It was a simply sensational strike from 30 yards out that nestled into the top corner. Even if the goalkeeper was Premier League quality, he would have had a hard time stopping it.
It is perhaps the sole highlight from his time at Wolves, but there are not many 20-year-olds who could have hit the ball that well, and even just that showing of quality was a hint at what he could be.
The early Vitinha signs were there at Wolves…
In the end, that moment was not enough to convince the Wolves chiefs that he was worth keeping around on a permanent basis.
And the player was not a fan of Nuno Espirito Santo’s instructions either.
Instead, his loan was allowed to expire, and a year later he was plying his trade for PSG. And against Tottenham in the Champions League, he scored a goal of a similar ilk for the Parisian outfit.
That talent was always there, even at Wolves, and fans continuously bring up the regret of not keeping Vitinha.
Nuno really dropped the ball…
Wolves should not give up on players so quickly
The biggest takeaway from the Vitinha transfer scenario is that Wolves should perhaps give their new players more time to showcase their qualities.
However, admittedly, there does have to be a balance of cutting your losses as well.
There are similar scenarios at the club right now, including both Jhon Arias and Fer Lopez.
On one hand, Jhon Arias has failed to live up to the expectations that were had for him, and the Colombian has been linked with a move away.
And for Fer Lopez, his lack of game time has led to speculation on him returning to Celta Vigo.
The board need to assess both situations properly and weigh up the risks of letting them go or keeping them around when they will not positively impact the team.
Fans want Rob Edwards to play Lopez more, but when it comes to Arias’ reputation with fans, it is becoming increasingly negative.
