Over the years, very few Wolves players have made the England squad, with the last to do so being Conor Coady back in 2022.
Coady has ten appearances for England across his career. Interestingly, the last player before the defender was Matt Jarvis in 2011.
The England squad has not been too kind to Wolves over the years, although Steve Bull has fond memories of his time for his nation.
Wolves’ most-capped player for the national team actually comes from multiple decades ago and has over 100 appearances.

Billy Wright is Wolves’ most-capped England player
The Wolves team during the late 1940s and the entire 1950s was sensational, and their record with trophies proves it.
They won three First Division titles and an FA Cup throughout that period. One of the more prominent figures during that time was Billy Wright.
Wright was a one-club man and made over 400 appearances for the Old Gold, but he also holds the record for most caps by a Wolves player for England.
Wright achieved 105 caps for his country and scored three goals. The next closest is Ron Flowers with 49.

Wright’s England career ended seven years before the country’s famous World Cup win in 1966, but he was captain of the national side for 11 years.
This not only makes him Wolves’ most capped England player but also the longest-serving England captain of all time.
Sam Johnstone could be the next Wolves player to get called up
Sam Johnstone is knocking on the door for an England call-up, and while there has not been a Wolves player for three years in the squad, his performances are on the way to changing that.
The goalkeeper admitted his sights are set on World Cup 2026, and even though he would likely go in as second or third choice, it would still be a huge honour.
Billy Wright is one of Wolves’ and England’s best servants, and hopefully if Sam Johnstone can get called up, it can be the start of another long list of Old Gold faces in the set-up.
