Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen is actually beating Erling Haaland in one Premier League statistic this season

Wolves fans are really starting to warm to Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The striker became Wolves’ third signing of the 2023 summer window after Rodrigo Gomes and Pedro Lima, joining on an initial loan basis from Celta Vigo.

It is understood that the move will turn permanent for around £23 million once he has made a certain number of appearances.

So far, Gary O’Neil has started Strand Larsen in every Premier League game.

It is clear that he is the new number one striker at Molineux – and it has definitely been a promising start for the big man.

On Sunday against Manchester City, he scored his third Premier League goal of the season.

The day was perhaps set up for another Norwegian to shine, with Erling Haaland leading the line for the visitors.

But it was a very quiet day for him thanks once again to Craig Dawson, and now an interesting statistic has emerged about Strand Larsen and his international teammate.

Haaland has been one of the best players in the Premier League so far this season.

But there is actually a statistic right now to suggest Strand Larsen is just as dangerous as Haaland when he actually gets the ball in the right areas.

As per data from BBC Sport, Haaland has scored 10 Premier League goals so far this season, which have come from 35 shots in total. he has a shot accuracy of 66%

City’s number nine has a goal conversion rate of 29% so far.

Interestingly, Strand Larsen’s three Premier League goals have come from just 10 shots.

The Wolves number nine’s goal conversion rate is recorded as a touch higher than Haaland’s at 30%.

Wolves need to find Strand Larsen more

If anything, this just shows that Wolves need to be looking to find Strand Larsen more often in games.

A goal conversion percentage of 30% is very good and just shows that there’s a reasonable chance of him finding the back of the net if he actually gets into a shooting position.

That he’s only had 10 shots so far in the Premier League is a bit of an issue.

Wolves do well at getting the ball to the edge of the area, but then it is not uncommon for attacks to fizzle out with no one taking a shot.

The objective should be to get Strand Larsen into positions where he can shoot, because clearly he’s a threat. He also has a pretty good shot accuracy percentage of 60% so far.

So O’Neil has to find a way of involving his striker more.

Steve Bull recently called for Wolves to involve Strand Larsen more in games, and doing so might just help the team to start taking points. Especially with Wolves looking more settled with three at the back.
