Vitor Pereira has achieved the same thing as Gary O’Neil at Wolves but in four games less

Vitor Pereira is doing an excellent job at Wolves. The Portuguese manager has become a fan-favourite as he looks to secure the side’s Premier League survival.

Pereira replaced Gary O’Neil at the end of last year after just 16 games into the season. O’Neil’s sacking came following a 2-1 home defeat to Ipswich, and at a time when Wolves were inside the relegation zone.

Since then, Pereira has not only guided the team to the verge of safety but he’s also improved the quality of football and squad harmony.

Pereira’s record at Wolves in his first 17 matches includes eight wins, two draws and just seven defeats.

Since the start of February, Wolves have won the third most Premier League points. Only Liverpool (17) and Arsenal (14) have secured more points than the Old Gold (13).

The future is bright

Wolves are preparing to face Ipswich on Saturday afternoon.

The matchup at Portman Road is hugely important in the race for survival. A third consecutive win would see the Old Gold move 12 points clear of the drop and all but guarantee safety.

Although he won’t admit it, Pereira will be planning for life in England’s top-flight next season, and rightly so.

The former Al-Shabab boss has not only shown he can improve the current Wolves squad, but despite Wolves being the second-highest spenders in January, the Portuguese has proven he can make the right signings.

The future is bright and Fosun must now look toward it with Pereira at the helm.
