The exclusive club Jorgen Strand Larsen will join with his next Premier League goal for Wolves in 2024/25

Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen enjoyed a good weekend, scoring twice in a huge win for the team over Southampton.

Wanderers went nine points clear of the relegation zone, with Ipswich Town and Leicester City both losing again.

Things are finally starting to look up for Wolves following a very turbulent season.

Alan Shearer reckons Wolves will stay up now and that the relegation battle is over following the win over Southampton.

Vitor Pereira was keen to downplay Wolves’ healthy position after the game. But he will know that he is very close to achieving the big objective he was brought in to achieve.

On Saturday, Strand Larsen hit a brace – and one more goal in the Premier League will put the Norwegian in a pretty exclusive club.

Strand Larsen set Wolves on their way on Saturday with a brilliant header into the far corner.

That will have done his confidence the world of good, and clearly it helped, as Strand Larsen went on to score again in the second-half.

Yesterday, Strand Larsen declared to Wolves fans that he was ‘back’, after some recent struggles.

That will be music to supporters’ ears, and many will now hope to see more goals follow this brace.

And Strand Larsen is actually now just one Premier League goal away from joining an exclusive club of players who’ve donned the old gold shirt.

Strand Larsen currently sits on nine Premier League goals for the campaign so one more takes him into double figures.

When that next goal goes in, that will see him become only the fifth player to get double figures in a Premier League campaign.

The players to have managed this previously are Raul Jimenez, Steven Fletcher (twice), Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan.

Strand Larsen can be proud of his first season at Wolves

He’s had a bit of a hard time at times from some this season, but Strand Larsen can be pleased with his efforts this season.

Ahead of this season, Steve Bull warned Strand Larsen that he may struggle for service leading the line for Wolves.

That has arguably proven to be the case, although on Saturday against Southampton the striker was found more frequently.

Appearances – 30
Goals – 9
Assists – 3

To get 10 goals in a first season in the Premier League with no previous experience of the division is definitely respectable.

Yes, he’s had some outings where he hasn’t been very effective. But teething problems are to be expected in a player’s first campaign.

Hopefully, he will get that next goal before the season is out – if he can stay fit, then he surely will.
