Rayan Ait-Nouri has enjoyed a very good start to the new season Wolves – and one very impressive statistic has now emerged about the youngster.
Ait-Nouri has been a mainstay in Wolves’ starting XI this term under Gary O’Neil, after he didn’t feature much at all under Julen Lopetegui.
So far, Ait-Nouri has played in all of Wolves’ 13 games in all competitions this season, starting the majority.
O’Neil is clearly a big fan of him. He said recently in an interview that, while the youngster was ‘mad’, ‘the sky is the limit’ for the 22-year-old.
It’s been great to see Ait-Nouri impress at both ends of the pitch, and now a very interesting and impressive stat has come to light about the Algerian…
Rayan Ait-Nouri’s tackling has been very, very good this season for Wolves
The Other 14 have released some data about Premier League players’ tackling success so far this season.
It turns out that Ait-Nouri has a very high success rate indeed.
The Other 14 takes into account players not at Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and the two Manchester clubs.
When it comes to players from the rest of the league, no one is more successful at tackling than Ait-Nouri this season.
He’s made 28 tackles this term, and only been dribbled past five times. That gives him a success rate of 84.8%.
Interestingly, Ait-Nouri’s fellow Molineux full-back Nelson Semedo is also pretty high on the list. He’s made 27 tackles and been dribbled past six times, giving a success rate of 81.8%
Rayan Ait-Nouri stat is impressive considering defensive ‘weakness’

A tackle success rate of 84.8% is very impressive going from Ait-Nouri, especially considering the general perspective of him is that he is much better offensively than he is defensively.
Ait-Nouri himself has admitted in a recent interview with DZ Foot that the defensive aspect of the game was his ‘weak point’. He did also say that he felt he was improving.
This statistic would certainly suggest that he is.
But of course, there is more to defending than just winning your tackles.
It’s about taking up the right positions as well, and £10,000-a-week man Ait-Nouri can sometimes still get caught out.
Without doubt though, he is heading in the right direction and the statisticians at Compton Park will surely be delighted with this tackle success figure.
