After enduring a torrid campaign, Southampton will spend next season back in the Championship.
The Saints have had a miserable first season back in the Premier League, picking up just 10 points from 32 matches.

Set for life back in England’s second tier, the Saints will be braced for a squad exodus.
And although they don’t have too many high-profile players, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is one of them.

Wolves should consider joining Man United in transfer hunt
Ramsdale was Arsenal’s number 1 before Mikel Arteta decided to bring David Raya in from Brentford. As a result of wanting more competitive action, Ramsdale, an England international with five senior caps, agreed to join Southampton.
However, set to be demoted to the Championship, Ramsdale is unsurprisingly being linked with staying in the Premier League. According to The Sun, the experienced goalkeeper is wanted by Manchester United — a team facing their own defensive crisis.
Wolves’ problems in between the sticks mean Vitor Pereira should also enter the mix for Ramsdale though. Jose Sa has been a good servant but could do with an upgrade and Sam Johnstone wants out in favour of more first-team football.

The one position Wolves need to strengthen is their goalkeeper, so they’d be foolish not to at least consider Ramsdale.
Not only is he vastly experienced and definitely too good for the second tier, but he’d be an attainable option once the Saints’ relegation is confirmed at the end of the season.
Aaron Ramsdale replacing Sam Johnstone is a no-brainer
Johnstone is unlikely to stick around at Molineux. The keeper has been a backup figure for Pereira, who has stuck with Sa and played Johnstone in Cup competitions only.
Although Johnstone is a great second choice keeper to have, it’s understandable why he may not settle for a bit-part role.
And while Ramsdale won’t want play bridesmaid either, the former Arsenal star has a much better chance of taking the Number 1 jersey off Sa, whose contract expires in 2027.
Since joining Southampton at the start of last season, Ramsdale has kept three clean sheets in 36 games in all competitions. His deal at St. Mary’s expires in June 2028 with Southampton retaining the option to add another year.
