Wolves have today learned that striker Sasa Kalajdzic is set for another long spell on the sidelines, after he suffered another ACL injury.
The 26-year-old was playing his sixth match on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt against SC Freiburg on Sunday, and there were concerning scenes when the player went down under no contact in the opening stages. The player immediately clutched his knee.
After just 11 minutes, he was withdrawn and since the game fans have been waiting for positive news on the star.
Sadly, Eintracht have today confirmed the worst possible news. Kalajdzic has suffered another ACL injury – the third of his career, leaving many fans gutted.
An official statement read: “Sasa Kalajdzic suffered a rupture of the cruciate and lateral ligaments in his right knee in Sunday’s away game against SC Freiburg and will be out indefinitely. Eintracht Frankfurt wish Kalajdzic a good and speedy recovery.”
Kalajdzic’s two previous knee injuries kept him out for 10 and 12 months respectively, and the player is certainly set for another long spell on the sidelines.
Sadly, this surely means that Kalajdzic’s career is now in serious jeopardy…
Sasa Kalajdzic will do very well to play for Wolves ever again after fresh injury setback

First and foremost, what a horrendous development this is for Kalajdzic.
The striker worked so hard to get back fit from his last big injury, and he will have been relishing his loan move with Eintracht. Especially ahead of Euro 2024
He scored and assisted last week against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa Conference League, and it was supposed to be the turning of a corner for him.
But the injury curse has struck again, and it’s going to be another long road back.
It is not nice to consider, but this surely now casts major doubt on Kalajdzic ever playing for Wolves again.
The star was already struggling to convince Gary O’Neil to play him in the first half of the current season, and a third ACL injury is going to reduce his chances of being Wolves’ regular number nine even more.
It’s awful news, especially because Kalajdzic is a genuinely great human being.
Back in September, after Kalajdzic had scored a late winner against Everton in the Premier League, O’Neil said (via Daily Mail): “Sasa is popular in the dressing room. Very highly thought of in the group.”
It has been very clear to see how nice he is from the behind-the-scenes videos that Wolves put out on social media, and it’s awful that this has happened to him.
If we are to assume this latest injury will take a similar amount of time to heal from as his previous injuries, then it’ll be about a year before he steps back out onto a football pitch.
It’s going to be difficult for him to come back and play for Wolves again, especially given that he has been unable to prove himself in the shirt.
