Wolves under-21s unearth a new talent who looks just as exciting as Mateus Mane

Mateus Mane isn’t the only young Wolves talent making a name for himself in the academy this season.

One of the only positives for Wolves this season has been the emergence of some of the younger players from the academy at Compton.

Mateus Mane, Enso Gonzalez and Tawanda Chirewa are the three most recent names to rise up to the first team, with two of the three appearing in the Premier League matchday squad in the loss to Chelsea.

However, Rob Edwards decided not to call upon any of the three youngsters in what was his first game as Wolves boss, despite Gonzalez, Chirewa and Mane not appearing for the under-21s.

But, there is another player who’s catching the eye in the academy and his name is Tom Edozie.

Tom Edozie shows his potential for Wolves under-21s

Tom Edozie operates on the right wing predominantly but can also play slightly further back and in an attacking midfield role, as well as being right-footed.

His older brother is also in football and has actually played against Wolves before. He goes by the name of Samuel Edozie and currently plays for Southampton in the Championship.

Much like his brother, Tom had his full range of skills on display for the Wolves under-21s as they lost 3-2 against Braintree Town in the National League Cup.

He even bagged a goal, picking up the ball from just inside the halfway line, playing a one-two and then driving into the box and calmly slotting the ball beyond the onrushing goalkeeper.

Tom Edozie looks like Wolves’ next gem, but will he get a chance?

Will Tom Edozie follow in Mateus Mane’s footsteps?

Well, the early signs are there from Tom Edozie, who actually happens to be older than Mane, at 19.

He’s exactly the type of player that would get fans off their seats. Constantly driving at defenders, using his trickery and pace to get the better in one-on-one situations.

However, he’s yet to appear in the first team at Wolves.

Matheus Cunha was the one player who operated in such a way, and it paid dividends for Wolves. But no one in the current squad has shown any signs of being able to stepping into his shoes.

Mateus Mane has shown plenty of promise, and even in his short stint against Chelsea showed he can really take the game to the opposition, but Rob Edwards hasn’t turned to him just yet.
