Wolves fans are once again going home disappointed after a 2-0 loss against Sunderland.
The international break gave us a break from Wolves action, and there was a growing feeling that things were moving in the right direction.
Some fans weren’t convinced, and they have been proven right by a real flat performance from Vitor Pereira’s side.
No one painted themselves in glory at the Stadium of Light, but one player was especially disappointing.

Joao Gomes wasn’t at it against Sunderland
The adjustment to a midfield three hasn’t helped Joao Gomes by the looks of things.
Usually a reliable touch of class in the middle of the park, Gomes couldn’t find a rhythm against Sunderland.
He looked a step slow on the ball, and was a major reason for Wolves finding themselves trapped in their own half for much of the 90 minutes.
Gomes’ touch was loose, he was caught in possession on multiple occasions, and the penetrating balls he is normally good for weren’t coming off.
Hopefully, it’s a one-off and not a dip in form from one of Wolves’ most important players.
Vitor Pereira in the hot seat now
As much as Pereira has endeared himself to the Molineux faithful during his time at the helm, patience is wearing thin.
It’s now just two points from eight games, and the performance against Sunderland looked like a real regression from what we saw before the break.
Pereira has just signed a new contract, but reports suggest nothing has changed with regards to the cost of releasing him, and that is sure to be a topic of conversation in the week building up to Burnley.

It’s difficult, because Wolves have had a summer full of change and not long to build chemistry within this new-look side.
But football is a game of results, and this is just another bad one to add to the rest.
