Wolves slump to a draw against Nottingham Forest with multiple players hitting 5/10s

A Matheus Cunha first-half goal cancelled out Harry Toffolo’s openers as Wolves and Nottingham Forest played out a 1-1 draw at Molineux.

It was a poor performance from Wolves overall as they looked to kick on after the opener. Cunha’s equaliser put the hosts in the driving seat at Molineux as he continued his great run of form.

However, this seemed to die in the second half with all their creativity disappearing.

The game was there for the taking for O’Neil’s side, especially after they returned to winnings ways in the week against Burnley.

A string of poor performances from the side ultimately meant that Wolves didn’t come away with anything more than a point.

Returning to the starting XI after his injury, Sa messed up with the opener. Went to come out to collect the ball from the cross, hesitated and ended up in no man’s land. Made a good save at the end of the first half to keep the scores level. In the second half, he had little to do.

Should have done better at the back post as Forest took the lead. Had some good attacking intentions at times with some give-and-go’s working fairly well.

After having little to do in the first half he almost cost Wolves a goal with a terrible backpass but luckily, Sa was there to save. He then lost his marker in the second period as the Forest player headed over the bar from just yards out.

The best defender on the field for Wolves. Dawson looked composed throughout and dealt with the majority of the problems that came his way.

CB – Toti Gomes – 5/10

Made a poor error which led to the opener. Gave away the ball too many times and looked shaky throughout the game.

A terrible pass to Toti Gomes led to the opener after a series of errors from the Wolves backline. Nothing really came off for the full-back with a string of waywould passes and always looked like he had another mistake in him.

CM – Mario Lemina – 7/10

Helped make Cunha’s goal despite not getting the assist. The weight of the pass to Sarabia was fantastic and brilliantly unlocked the Forest defence. His physical presence allowed Wolves to control the game as soon as the visitors netted the opener in the first half. Had to come off early in the second period after picking up a knock.

Played well in the first half and mopped up everything in the middle to keep Wolves in control of the game. Gomes was a little more shaky in the second period but still had a good game overall.

RW – Hwang Hee-Chan – 5/10

Didn’t have any influence really on the game and was missing far too often. His only chance was a singular header in the first half, however; he could have easily won a penalty late on.

Got the all-important equaliser. It was an easy finish for the Brazilian but you have to be there to finish it. His recent form has truly been fantastic with the attacker now registering three goals and two assists in his last five games.

A wonderful first-time pass to find Cunha for the equaliser. His creativity was on point throughout and could have had a second assist just minutes later if Hugo Bueno had unleashed his effort sooner. His influence died in the second half before he was subbed off.

Helped to resecure the midfield after a good spell by Forest but struggled to create anything in attack.

Almost cost Wolves a goal immediately as he lost the ball on the left flank.

Didn’t make an impact.
