Wolves should try to facilitate loan for ‘talented’ £15m player – he’s in an awkward position

The transfer window is now closed for English clubs to bring in new players, and for Wolves it was a fairly productive month in the end.

Vitor Pereira got three new signings – Emmanuel Agbadou, Nasser Djiga and Marshall Munetsi.

Djiga and Munetsi both signed for Wolves late on transfer deadline day, and the hope is that the pair will be ready for Wolves’ FA Cup game with Blackburn this weekend.

With Wolves making these three signings, the club need to make space for them ahead of submitting their updated Premier League squad.

Agbadou coming in will more than likely mean that Yerson Mosquera – who’s out injured for the rest of the season – will be deregistered.

Mario Lemina has joined Galatasaray, which will allow Marshall Munetsi to be registered.

But one more spot needs freeing up for Nasser Djiga.

It was suggested yesterday that Sasa Kalajdzic might be the unlucky third Wolves player to be deregistered. And given that possibility, the club now ought to try and loan him out.

Wolves should see about a loan move for Sasa Kalajdzic

Sasa Kalajdzic suffered an ACL injury at Eintracht Frankfurt last year, which was the third of his career.

He’s been on the grass at Compton Park for weeks now, but it’s unclear if he has yet resumed full training with his teammates.

It likely won’t be too much longer before Kalajdzic is ready to play again, and so, Wolves should considering try to facilitate a loan move for the striker.

There are still some transfer windows that are open.

Clubs in Turkey can still buy players up until February 11.

Other opportunities for Wolves to offload Kalajdzic could include the Swiss transfer window, which is still open until February 17. Previously, Wolves have sent players on loan to Grasshoppers, who are owned by Jenny Wang, the wife of Wolves owner Guo Guangchang.

The Austrian window is also open until tomorrow. With Kalajdzic being Austrian, that could be something that makes sense for all parties.

Wolves have cover in attack

It would be no surprise if Kalajdzic – who cost Wolves £15 million (BBC Sport) – was deregistered in order to make room for new players.

It’s a bit of an awkward situation for him as he would probably love to play a part for Wolves in the second half of the season.

But it’s hard to see who else Pereira could deregister. Perhaps Boubacar Traore could head out on loan instead, but one suspects the manager might fancy using him. Especially since Tommy Doyle doesn’t seem fancied by Pereira.

Wolves have decent cover in attack at the moment.

Appearances – 14
Goals – 3
Assists – 1

Jorgen Strand Larsen has an injury but it isn’t thought to be too serious, and Matheus Cunha, Goncalo Guedes and Hwang Hee-chan can all operate through the middle.

Ideally, Kalajdzic – described as ‘a talented young striker’ by then-technical director Scott Sellars when he first joined (via Wolves official) – needs to head out to build up his match fitness again.

If Wolves are thinking about selling the player in the summer, it’s important for him to put himself in the shop window.

He can’t do that if he’s just playing with the U21s.
