Wolves should see if Valencia would be interested in swap deal involving Guedes and Traore

Wolves are reportedly set to prioritise a move for Goncalo Guedes this summer – and the club should consider proposing a swap deal involving Adama Traore.

The Telegraph reported yesterday that Bruno Lage has the green light to pursue a new striker in the next window.

It hasn’t been good enough this season in front of goal, and the suggestion from The Telegraph is that Fosun are ready to spend to address the issue.

But some Wolves fans are a little cynical about Fosun, given that little money has been spent in the last couple of windows.

Some supporters are not confident that they will be spending big, especially given the recent comments from Scott Sellars about ‘managing ourselves as a football business’.

It remains to be seen what will happen, but it’s possible we could be seeing some free swoops, loan deals and swaps.

One potential swap deal that Wolves maybe could look into involves Adama Traore.

The winger has been on loan at Barcelona since January. He made an explosive start, but he is now struggling for game time.

It appears Barcelona will not be triggering the option to buy that was negotiated, and it’s turned into a frustrating situation.

Apparently now, Barca would only propose to get Traore back if it was a loan or a swap.

But maybe Wolves should see about offering Traore to Valencia to get Guedes.

Traore, 26, won’t sign an extension at Molineux, and so really he needs to depart in the next window.

The Telegraph reported that Valencia value 29-cap Portugal international Guedes at around £15 million, which is surely a figure that is somewhere near Traore’s value.

Traore-Guedes swap deal would be ideal outcome for Wolves

Wolves swapping Traore for Guedes would be an ideal outcome, given what’s happened with the Spaniard at Barca.

Wolves have been left with egg on their face, and the Spaniard’s value will have dropped quite a bit since his loan move.

But it’s possible Valencia would be interested in a straight swap deal, with Guedes also out of contract in the summer of 2023.

It would obviously depend on Traore being open to go to the Mestalla Stadium, and Guedes fancying a switch to Molineux.

If it’s something both would be open to, Wolves surely have to make the proposal.
