There is going to be a lot going on at Wolves this summer, but Wolves should not loan out winger Chiquinho.
The 2021/22 season has ended in very disappointing fashion, with Wanderers currently on a six-game winless run.
The team has Liverpool on Sunday to close out the season, and it will be an extremely tough game with the Reds looking to beat Manchester City to the title.
It’s possible Wolves could slip down two places if other results go against them.
There will likely be lots of ins and outs in the next transfer window, and there will probably be quite a few loan moves sanctioned as well.
Bruno Lage recently spoke about Chiquinho, the January singing from Estoril who has been something of a bright spark for Wolves over the last few weeks.
The 22-year-old has really made an impression with his blistering turn of pace and dribbling ability.
He made headlines for making two assists in the game against Chelsea to help Wolves rescue a point.
He was then Wolves’ best player against Manchester City on his first start for the club.
Despite his fantastic cameos, Lage has suggested it’s possible for the starlet to go out on loan next season.
He said (Birmingham Mail): “If he has a chance to be here and continue his evolution, good, but like Morgan they could have a chance to play all season. When they feel they are ready to play more games, if they don’t have space to play here we need to find a solution for them.”
Some fans on social media have expressed their disappointment after these comments.
That’s no surprise, given how Chiquinho has really stood out while most of his teammates have turned in some really poor performances recently.
Wolves should not loan out Chiquinho this summer, and should re-assess in January 2023
Chiquinho has surely shown he has something to offer the Wolves first-team squad next season.
He’s already been making things happen for Wanderers in what little time he has been given by Lage.
He seems to play without fear, and he works very hard and Lage is clearly pleased with what he’s done so far.
The star is somewhat like Adama Traore, who could be leaving this summer given his apparent unwillingness to sign a new contract at Molineux.
He could be a decent replacement for the Spaniard.
Wolves should take a gamble on £3 million man Chiquinho, since he is different to all the other wide options.
Wanderers can always look at the situation in January 2023 to see if he needs a loan move for the second half of the campaign.
