With a glaring lack of goals, highlighted by a Premier League-low tally and a reliance on defensive scorers, Wolves’ primary objective this month is to really bolster their options in the final third.
There were high hopes when Rob Edwards was appointed as Wolves boss, but things haven’t quite gone as expected during his eight games at Molineux.
Edwards is averaging 0.13 points per game, the worst record so far in his managerial career.
However, it’s not just down to the manager, as the squad that he currently has at his disposal just doesn’t look good enough to cut it in the Premier League.
Jhon Arias, Fer Lopez, Jackson Tchatchoua, David Moller-Wolfe, Ladislav Krejci, and Tolu Arokodare were all brought in this summer, but only Krejci has really been able to stamp his authority.
In just a matter of months, Lopez is being linked with a loan move and Tchatchoua is wanted in Serie A.
What do we make of this, Wolves fans?
It's been claimed Fer Lopez is closing in on a loan move back to Celta Vigo – and he could stay for 18 months 🤔
Leo Castledine is made available by Chelsea
Chelsea midfielder Leo Castledine has been on loan at League One club Huddersfield Town for the first half of the current campaign.
He’s enjoyed a highly successful spell operating as an attacking midfielder, scoring 11 goals and four assists in all competitions to date.
Castledine even picked up the Player of the Month for December 2025, his second such accolade since joining the club.
Despite his impressive form, Chelsea are willing to cash in on the midfielder this month, according to journalist Tom Collomosse.
It’s claimed that Chelsea are open to a full sale and even have a recall clause, but there are plenty of Championship clubs queuing up for his signature.
Who would be your DREAM January signing for Wolves?
Make it realistic!
What would Leo Castledine bring to Wolves?
Leo Castledine making his way to Molineux would provide Wolves with a goal-scoring spark from midfield that has been sorely missed since Matheus Cunha’s departure.
At just 20 years old, the midfielder fits the profile of players Fosun like to sign with the view to increasing their value over the years.
He’s often compared to Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher, offering a mixture of high energy and a box-to-box mentality, which Wolves could be without if Joao Gomes leaves this month.
Of course, League One isn’t much to shout about, but to score that amount of goals at just 20 years old shows there is plenty to work with. Especially with Wolves heading for the Championship.
