It’s only October, but already Wolves are looking at ways to strengthen the squad in the winter window.
Wolves must get any January recruitment absolutely right as they bid to stay in the Premier League.
The defence has shored up in recent games, coinciding with Vitor Pereira’s shift to a back four, but on the offensive end it’s been lacklustre. Wolves got ahead in the last two, a welcome change, but weren’t able to press forward and put those games to bed.
The attack has taken many different forms this season, with Jorgen Strand Larsen’s absences and integrating new signings to blame. Pereira should be looking for a new attacker to come in and help put the ball in the net more often, but the target Wolves have identified isn’t the right fit.
Wolves reignite interest in Pablo Garcia
Just after Fer Lopez was signed back in July, it was reported that Wolves were interested in Pablo Garcia, a 19-year-old winger for Real Betis.
Garcia is a highly touted young prospect with heaps of talent and a £25 million release clause. He has been fantastic for Betis and for the Spanish youth teams, but he’s not the kind of player Wolves should be considering for a relegation scrap.

They need an established, Premier League-proven wide player who can come in and be an instant threat.
The winter window is Wolves’ last opportunity to impact their season, which at the moment, looks like being a challenge.
Wolves should go for Jacob Murphy
Jacob Murphy was one of the best wide players in the league last season. Full stop.
He put up 20 goal involvements in the Premier League, and only Mohamed Salah put up more assists. He’s an experienced player who formed a lethal bond with Alexander Isak over the last couple of seasons.
Murphy is 30, and already appears to be down the pecking order after the arrivals of Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa. Eddie Howe would not be happy to see him leave, but with his contract expiring in June 2027, his value will only go lower.
Newcastle’s project is ageing down, and Murphy could be gettable as soon as January. He would probably be cheaper than Garcia anyway, and is a much bigger name to come into the side.
It’s unlikely Wolves will do loads of business in the upcoming window, but whatever they do needs to be right. Murphy feels like a better bet in the short-term.
