Nasser Djiga joined Wolves in the January window of 2025 and has made just five appearances for the Old Gold since.
Vitor Pereira and the club felt the best option for the defender was to head out on loan this season, and Djiga was sent to Rangers.
The move was well received by supporters, and it was seen as a positive step in the 22-year-old’s development.
However, that loan may have been a major mistake.

Nasser Djiga’s value drops by 1.7m during Rangers loan
Nasser Djiga’s Rangers loan has been far from successful.
While he started out well, receiving praise from fans for early performances, things quickly turned south.
Most recently, Russell Martin was sacked, leaving Djiga without a manager, but before that, the Wolves loanee was not endearing himself to fans.
Rangers fans were more than frustrated with the Burkinabé player after a mistake-ridden performance against Club Brugge in Champions League qualifying.
The media were not any kinder, and Djiga was given 2/10s across the board.
Now, Transfermarkt, who provide valuations on players in the world of football, have dropped Djiga’s valuation from £8.6 million to £6.9 million.
The whole purpose of a loan move is to improve a player and provide them minutes, but Wolves’ decision to send the player to Rangers has completely backfired.
Steven Gerrard’s Rangers return could reignite Nasser Djiga
Hope is not lost for the Burkina Faso player, as Steven Gerrard looks set to return to Ibrox.
The former Gers boss had a fantastic defensive record while in charge of the Glasgow club.
During their title-winning season in 2020/2021, Rangers conceded just 13 goals across 38 games, and being part of a cohesive defensive unit could be what Djiga needs to give him back his confidence.
It has not worked out so far, and it has no doubt backfired on Wolves, but the defender can still turn things around, and he has a second chance to impress in Glasgow, no matter who takes the job.
