Wolverhampton Wanderers are said to be interested in Fiorentina striker Christian Kouame.

La Nazione, via TMW, reported last week that the Premier League side are eyeing a swoop for the Ivory Coast international, who has apparently been put up for sale.

Kouame has been with La Viola since January 2020, joining initially on loan from Genoa.

He turned his move permanent in the summer, but things haven’t really gone to plan.

Kouame has really struggled in front of goal, scoring just three times in 34 games for the club so far.

It is therefore somewhat surprising to learn Wolves might be interested – especially when one of his teammates looks a much more impactful player at the moment.

Dusan Vlahovic is currently keeping Kouame out of the side, and has scored 12 goals in Serie A so far this season.

The Serbia international’s form has led to reported interest from the likes of Arsenal, RB Leipzig, AS Roma, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan (Calciomercato).

Vlahovic the man for Wolves?

Vlahovic seems like the much better option to pursue this summer.

The star has a contract until 2023 according to Transfermarket meaning he’s likely be quite expensive (indeed, TMW claim he is worth around £35 million), but he seems a real handful and crucially, has shown a cutting edge in front of goal this season.

With Willian Jose struggling on the goal front, Vlahovic is certainly worth keeping an eye if he continues to play ahead of Kouame.
