Wolves fringe player a shoo-in to start vs Chelsea now Vitor Pereira has gone

With Vitor Pereira out of the picture, one out-of-favour Wolves man should get the chance to show his worth against Chelsea.

Some players just don’t force themselves into their manager’s thoughts, and it can lead to long periods warming the bench.

That’s certainly the case with one Wolves summer arrival, who has barely played, but has shown flashes of quality in recent weeks.

Under an interim coach, there’s opportunities now that weren’t there under Pereira. Collins said three academy players are ready to contribute against Chelsea, and there’s no reason why a certain Norwegian defender shouldn’t also get his chance.

David Moller Wolfe has to start for Wolves vs Chelsea

Of all the new signings to arrive at Molineux this summer, David Moller Wolfe — alongside Fer Lopez — has seen the least opportunity.

Signed from AZ Alkmaar, the 23-year-old didn’t exactly hit the ground running, and was fairly heavily criticised after his first couple of performances.

It also didn’t help that Hugo Bueno emerged as one of Wolves’ best players, outright. No one saw the Spaniard reaching the levels he has this season.

But Wolves’ prior meeting with Saturday’s opposition felt like a turning point, when Moller Wolfe grabbed a brace against Chelsea.

Heading into the same fixture, there’s no reason why Collins shouldn’t give the Norwegian a run. Heaven knows Wolves could do with a similar impact from their wing-back.

Moller Wolfe has a way to go to displace Hugo Bueno

Moller Wolfe should make the Wolves XI to face Chelsea, but that doesn’t mean he deserves the spot on a regular basis.

As mentioned, there’s a wiry Spaniard who might have something to say about that. Bueno is being majorly let down by his teammates this season, putting on performances worthy of a much higher standing in the Premier League.

Bueno wasn’t in Pereira’s plans to start the season, but he forced his way in.

After hopefully putting on a solid showing against Chelsea, that’s exactly what Moller Wolfe needs to do. Force the issue when a new manager arrives. Competition is the best thing you can have in a squad.
