Wolves’ season so far has been full of surprises.
The Premier League side has gone from a club in crisis to one that now looks like it is only on the up.
Gary O’Neil has given Wolves a real sense of excitement in recent weeks with the football on show entertaining all involved.
With Wolves now 12 games into the Premier League season, we look over the club’s biggest surprises so far.
Pedro Neto and Hwang Hee-Chan’s partnership

Over recent years, Wolves’ firepower has long been their Achilles heel.
So when the club lost Adama Traore, Raul Jimenez and Ruben Neves in the summer, little improvement was expected in the attacking areas.
Yet, Neto and Hwang, who have had little luck in Wolverhampton over recent years have set Molineux alright in recent weeks.
Their partnership has helped push Wolves up the table with the pair boasting a combined 17 goal contributions so far this campaign.
As a result, Wolves’ troubles in front of goal have drastically reduced with the side only failing to score in the opening game of the season against Man United.
Fortress Molineux

When the fixture schedule was released for the 2023/24 season, it is fair to say that there wasn’t a great deal of optimism about Wolves’ home run.
Until December, Wolves were set to face six of the previous campaign’s top eight at Molineux with many predicting that the hosts wouldn’t win a home league game for months.
However, a string of impeccable performances has seen O’Neil’s side pick up some fantastic points.
Their draws against Newcastle and Aston Villa were impressive but their victories versus Man City and Spurs are by far the most memorable.
As a result, Molineux has once again become a fortress. If Wolves can sustain this presence few sides are likely to come away with a win this season.
Matheus Nunes’ sudden departure

The midfielder looked like he may stay at Molineux after the sudden departures of multiple first-team faces.
While he never lived up to his reputation in his debut year, many hoped he might step up after Ruben Neves’ transfer away from the club.
However, the deadline day sale for the midfielder meant the 25-year-old will likely be a forgotten footnote in Wolves’ history.
His replacements Tommy Doyle and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde already look like fantastic additions to the club as well.
Super-sub Sasa Kalajdžić

Wolves’ attacking options coming into the season were limited.
However, one ace in the hole the Black Country side had was the return of Kalajdžić.
The Austrian striker had been out for almost the entirety of the 2022/23 season after an injury against Fulham.
With fans unsure what to expect from the 26-year-old after his return from injury, Kalajdžić was sure to return to the pitch in style.
His impact from the bench this season has been vital to Wolves’ success, with the striker netting winners against both Everton and Bournemouth.
Hopefully, the Austrian can keep this level of performance up throughout the campaign.
Gary O’Neil’s masterclass

Perhaps the biggest surprise this season has been the manager himself.
Not many people gave Wolves a fighting chance after former Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui departed the club only to be replaced by O’Neil just days before the season was due to start.
The former Bournemouth man hadn’t even been a manager for a full yet before his appointment as he came into a club in crisis.
Yet, O’Neil has been a breath of fresh air at Wolves. Under his guidance Wolves sit comfortably in the middle of the table with fans looking up rather than down.
Despite having many doubters upon his arrival, it is safe to say that many fans are now behind the manager as the club embarks on a new era in the Premier League.
