Wolves cruised to a 3-0 win over Everton with one player hitting a 9/10

Wolves cruised to a brilliant 3-0 victory over Everton in a dominant display at Molineux with multiple players on fine form yet again.

The hosts were on top from start to finish and could have easily had more goals than the three that they scored. Captain Max Kilman opened the scoring from close range in the first half to Wolves in control early on.

Matheus Cunha then doubled the lead in the second half thanks to a fantastic ball from Hwang Hee-Chan. Craig Dawson then rounded off the win as he bundled in Wolves’ third in an emphatic display at Molineux.

Gary O’Neil’s side has now won three on the bounce in the Premier League and ended 2023 in style. It was the perfect follow-up to their 4-1 win over Brentford earlier in the week.

Now, in one of their best performances of the season, we rate the players after their final performance of the year.

Made a great save from Dominic Calvert-Lewin late in the first half after he was sent one-on-one despite the flag eventually going up. From here, Sa didn’t have much to do as Wolves cruised the game.

Made some excellent runs down the right and really widened the game against a narrow Everton side.

CB – Max Kilman – 8/10

A rare goal from the captain who opened the scoring against Everton once again. It was perhaps an easy goal as he buried the ball from a couple of yards but it still had to get through a heap of bodies to find the back of the net.

CB – Craig Dawson – 8/10

Was unlucky not to get the opener when he was just unable to get the vital touch. From here, he sprayed some great balls around, one of which helped lead to Wolves’ second. Dawson then got the goal as he got the all-important touch to send the ball past Pickford to make it 3-0

CB – Toti Gomes – 7/10

Helped keep a clean sheet against a good Everton side. While he didn’t get a goal like his two other centre-back counterparts, he put into another great shift at the back.

LWB – Rayan Ait-Nouri – 7/10

Made a vital tackle to stop a potential Everton counter-attack and keep the ball in a dangerous area which helped contribute to Dawson’s third.

CM – Tommy Doyle – 7/10

Coming in for Mario Lemina looked to be a difficult task but Doyle fit back into the side seamlessly. Wolves utterly controlled the game and Doyle was one of the key players behind that.

CM – Joao Gomes – 8/10

Helped control the midfield to a tee throughout the game. The midfielder has been in great form recently and he continued that run against Everton in style. Joao Gomes could have easily been amongst the goals as well as he forced Pickford to make a save.

RW – Pablo Sarabia – 7/10

Adds a bit of style to the Wolves front line. He was an important player in helping to unlock Everton’s defence throughout in a game where Wolves could have easily had five or six goals.

ST – Matheus Cunha – 9/10

Sent an absolutely fantastic ball into the box that led to the opener. Cunha was the main man for Wolves and helped them push forward multiple times. The Brazilian should have had an assist earlier in the game as well when he played Hwang through one-on-one. He then got one himself as he buried from close range to put the hosts in the driving seat at Molineux. Another assist would soon come again for Cunha as he played a great ball into Dawson to bundle in Wolves’ third.

LW – Hwang Hee-Chan – 8/10

Should have opened the scoring in the early exchanges when he took the ball past Jordan Pickford. After making multiple good runs in the first half, one paid off in the second as he delivered the ball on a plate to Cunha for Wolves’ second. Was unlucky not to grab a goal in the second half as Pickford pulled off some great saves before he had another was chalked off by the offside flag.

Sub – Hugo Bueno – 6/10

Helped keep the momentum.

Sub – Pedro Neto – 6/10

Was so close to getting a perfect return to the pitch when he sent the ball over the bar. He then had another chalked off by the offside flag which was highly unfortunate.

Came on and carried on Joao Gomes’ dominant display in midfield.
