For many Wolves fans, the main issue so far this season has been very clear.
Wolves are currently 19th in the Premier League table, and just picked up their first win against Southampton, in front of former captain Ruben Neves.
Wolves won 2-0, registering their first league clean sheet since February.
Quite simply, there have not been enough of those this calendar year and at the moment, Wolves are the team to have conceded the most goals in the division this season with 27.
Gary O’Neil simply must get Wolves to become less leaky at the back, and fans are expecting the signing of a new centre-back in January.
And it’s possible one could arrive in the form of Bayern Munich defender Eric Dier.
Wolves linked with Eric Dier transfer

It was reported earlier this week by TBR Football that Wolves are one of a few Premier League clubs keeping an eye on Eric Dier’s situation.
Brentford and Brighton are also keen.
Dier has struggled for game time since moving to the Bavarian giants in the summer of 2023, making 26 appearances so far.
This season, he’s made just four Bundesliga appearances for a total of 43 minutes of game time.
With the player out of contract at the end of the season, it is unsurprising there is now speculation about his immediate future – and Wolves should definitely look to swoop in January.
Why Dier move is actually a no-brainer for Wolves
Wolves simply have to get a new centre-half in in January. Fans were devastated when Yerson Mosquera got injured, leaving him unable to play for the rest of the season.
O’Neil has just three options right now, and needs more cover to help see the squad through to the end of the campaign.
Dier is not a particularly ‘glamorous’ name. But it really isn’t about that for Wolves at this moment in time.
Realistically, Dier is someone Wolves should definitely be considering because of his wealth of Premier League experience – he has played 274 times in the competition for Tottenham Hotspur.
Since his contract is up next year, he will not break the bank. And we all know that Fosun and Wolves love those kinds of transfer deals.
Over the last 365 days, Dier places in the 87th percentile for pass completion rate (via fbref), which is impressive. He has a rate of 91.1%, which is bound to appeal to O’Neil, who is determined to see Wolves play out from the back.
But Dier, 30, is just a fairly solid defender as well. He’s in the 76th percentile for blocks per 90 (1.50) and has been decent in the air (61st percentile, 2.23 per 90).
What’s more, Dier is a leader and he speaks fluent Portuguese having grown up in the country, which is bound to be helpful in the Wolves dressing room.
Furthermore, Dier is just a great professional. Matt Doherty once said that Dier was the biggest teacher’s pet’ when the pair were at Spurs together, and it would be good to have another player around to uphold standards and strive for excellence.
