Wolves’ statistical best starting XI certianly offers a few surprises compared to their usual line-up in the Premier Leauge.
The Black Country side have had a great start to life under Gary O’Neil with numerous players performing incredibly well.
However, there has been some rotation to the side throughout the campaign as the new manager got a feel for his side.
Therefore, we have looked at who the best players for Wolves have been in each position so far thanks to WhoScored.
The average ratings are only based off on the position that is highest for Wolves, with both the Premier League and the Carabao Cup performances considered for this piece.
GK – Jose Sa

No surprises to start off with.
The Wolves number one comfortably beats Dan Bentley with an average rating of 6.67 between the sticks.
His best performance so far this season comes against Everton where he produced a series of fantastic saves to keep the score level.
This earned the Portuguese ‘keeper a 9.42 rating and undoubtedly helped him win his first cap for his country this week.
RB – Nelson Semedo

The right-back has scored an average rating of 6.77 so far this season.
However, the Portuguese defender has had a mixed run of scores recently after struggling against Sheffield United.
His best performance so far came against Liverpool where he hit a 7.45.
CB – Matt Doherty

The first surprise on this list.
Doherty has played one game at centre-back this season for Wolves according to WhoScored.
The Irish international played the right side of a back three against Blackpool in the Carabao Cup where he netted twice as the hosts overcame the League One side 5-0.
This performance earned him a 9.5 rating as they progressed to the next round.
CB – Max Kilman

The captain makes the team with a solid average rating of 6.8
Kilman has been solid throughout the campaign so far with his best game coming away to Luton.
With the visitors down to 10 men thanks to Bellegarde’s red card, the centre-back put in a splendid defensive display which saw him get a 7.69 rating.
LB – Toti Gomes

Gomes seems to have found his best position for Wolves as he locks down the left side of the pitch.
The Portuguese international has played two games in the position with his best performance coming against Newcastle.
The fullback was sensational against the Magpies and got the assist for Hwang Hee-Chan’s equaliser which helped him earn a 7.7
CM – Mario Lemina

The Gabonese international may just be one of Wolves’ best recent transfers.
The midfielder has been fantastic for Gary O’Neil’s side this season with the 30-year-old seemingly getting better as each game passes as he sits with a 6.89 average.
His best performance unsurprisingly comes in Wolves’ last fixture where he earned a 8.34 rating against Spurs after scoring the late winner.
CM – Pablo Sarabia

Like Doherty, the Spaniard makes the team due to his performance against Blackpool in the cup.
The 31-year-old achieved an 8.6 rating from the centre of the park after assisting three of Wolves’ goals.
It has been the only game he has played in the position with him usually utilised in the front three.
CM – Jean-Ricner Bellegarde

The Frenchman has a 6.8 average rating for central midfield.
This rating may have been higher, but Whoscored doesn’t count the substitute appearance as part of the average for the position. Therefore, you cannot count his performance against Sheffield United.
The only game that counts is in the last fixture against Spurs where he had a solid game.
RW – Hwang Hee-Chan

Another star performer this season.
Hwang’s best average performances for Wolves have come on the right flank.
This is all thanks to his game against Liverpool where the South Korean international scored before the hosts eventually lost 3-1.
ST – Matheus Cunha

Perhaps another surprise, Cunha beats out Sasa Kalajdžić for the spot up top.
The Brazilian has hit a 7.3 rating on average, one of the highest in the squad.
His recent performances have really helped boost his score with the striker hitting an 8 and an 8.16 against Bournemouth and Newcastle respectfully.
LW – Pedro Neto

The most obvious inclusion of the list, Neto has been Wolves’ star man this season.
The winger has averaged a 7.75 on the left of the front three however, has only played one game in that position.
This was in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool where the 23-year-old picked up another assist.
