Winners and losers of Jackson Tchatchoua joining Wolves include Jhon Arias

While Wolves’ pre-season hasn’t been too positive, the arrival of Jackson Tchatchoua will generate some excitement around the club.

The club have been chasing a right wing-back for a couple of weeks, and so far Wolves have struggled to sign a Semedo replacement.

Two weeks after the 31-year-old left the club for Fenerbahçe, Wolves have finally landed their man, and it could have implications for members of the Wolves squad.

There are set to be both winners and losers from this transfer, as Jackson Tchatchoua hopes to set himself up as a regular starter.

Winners

Vitor Pereira

With Nelson Semedo’s departure from Wolves, Vitor Pereira will be happy that the club have finally identified a replacement.

The Portuguese manager lost a key member of his squad, and the attributes that Semedo offered will certainly be missed.

However, Tchatchoua has a much more similar profile to Semedo and adds much-needed quality to the Wolves squad.

Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias

Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias are both interchangeable players on the right side of attack for Wolves, with the pair capable of playing on either flank.

The duo are some of the only players to come out of pre-season with any positives, and the Colombian has already managed to score his first goal.

During pre-season, Lopez has played on both sides, and Arias is capable of the same. Either way, whoever claims that right-wing position at Wolves will certainly be happy with the signing of Tchatchoua.

The Cameroonian is a progressive wing-back, and the potential link-ups down the wing could be a dangerous asset for Pereira’s side, as long as Fer Lopez or Arias can cement a great relationship with the defender.

Losers

Ki-Jana Hoever

Over the course of pre-season, Hoever has seemed to be Vitor Pereira’s first choice out on the right, but with Tchatchoua joining, that may be about to change.

Hoever has struggled to impress Wolves fans as the Old Gold prepared for a return to Premier League action, and his poor displays could see Jackson Tchatchoua instantly usurp him in the squad.

Hope is not all lost for the Dutchman, and he could still fight his way to confirm himself as the starting right wing-back.

Rodrigo Gomes

With David Moller Wolfe joining Wolves and now Jackson Tchatchoua arriving, Rodrigo Gomes’ points of entry into the first team are blocked even further.

The versatile player is able to play on either side as a wing-back, but he could now see himself as third choice for both positions.

Moller Wolfe and Hugo Bueno are likely to fight for the spot as the club’s starting left wing-back, while Jackson Tchatchoua and Ki-Jana Hoever will battle for the right side.

Rodrigo Gomes’ minutes already looked quite limited this season, but having to fight for a place against two players is not the ideal scenario he would have hoped for.
