Gary O’Neil masterminded a superb 3-0 victory over Everton in which the Wolves were utterly dominant from start to finish.
It was another convincing win for the hosts who have now won back-to-back games by three goals after their 4-1 win against Brentford in the week.
Max Kilman netted an early opener before Matheus Cunha and Craig Dawson extended Wolves’ lead in the second half.
O’Neil’s side was fantastic throughout, as they extended their unbeaten run at Molineux to eight games.
The gap to seventh place has now closed to three points with fans now dreaming about European football once again.
Here, we discuss why the performance was easily the best Wolves have given in years.
Wolves utterly dominated Everton at Molineux

From the first minute to the last, Wolves were in full control of the game. With such an attack-packed game on display, it is hard to quite comprehend how many chances the hosts had.
Wolves could have gone ahead earlier had a goal earlier than their 25-minute opener. In-form Hwang Hee-Chan should have given O’Neil’s side the lead earlier on after he took the ball around Jordan Pickford but hesitated to pull the trigger quickly.
In the second half, Pickford was Everton’s hero again as he saved multiple great efforts destined for the goal. Wolves would then have another two goals disallowed due to players straying offside.
Up the other end, Everton didn’t lay a glove on O’Neil’s men. Apart from a pot shot that hit the top of the bar at 3-0, the Toffees didn’t have a single chance to get themselves back into the game.
This was shown in multiple statistics. According to The xG Philosophy, Everton only managed to create a 0.51 compared to Wolves’ 2.26. By the end of the game, the visitors didn’t even manage a shot on target making it an easy afternoon for Jose Sa.
This was much to the credit of the midfield with Joao Gomes and Tommy Doyle helping to keep Wolves high up the pitch constantly.
While the 4-1 win against Brentford was also a comprehensive scoreline, the Bees still had multiple chances. However, on Saturday, the game was about as comfortable as it gets. Slick football was on show throughout and, on another day, Wolves could won 7-0.
Everton victory is Gary O’Neil’s favourite performance so far

The manager was delighted after the game with the performance from his side. Wolves remain 11th in the table put continue to close the gap on the top-half teams.
O’Neil has led his side to some great victories this campaign such as their 2-1 win over Man City as well as their 2-1 comeback against Spurs.
However, looking back on Saturday’s result, he believes it is his favourite in the Wolves dugout so far.
He told Wolves: “It’s been an incredible week. Getting nine points in six days, three games with a small squad, with players missing, it’s been incredible.
“The medical team and everyone that contributes to getting the team ready to go again, all the work that goes behind the scenes to get the boys up to speed each day has helped us today. We looked the team with the most energy and it was probably my favourite performance of the season today.”
