Why Vitor Pereira might struggle to replace exit-bound Wolves star despite ‘disappointing’ season

Matheus Cunha isn’t the only player Wolves are set to bid farewell to in the summer transfer window.

Aside from Cunha, who has expressed his desire to leave Wolves in search of a new challenge, two players are out of contract in the summer.

Club captain Nelson Semedo is in line to return to Benfica, while Vitor Pereira also prepares to say goodbye to Pablo Sarabia

Sarabia has been linked to Sevilla in what could be a return to his former club after spending six years away from his homeland.

Pablo Sarabia’s moments of class are decisive

Though Sarabia’s time at Wolves has been branded ‘disappointing’, that doesn’t mean that the Spaniard will exit without needing to be replaced.

Not only in terms of a change in personnel, but by ensuring quality is maintained, with very few in the Wolves squad able to peak as high as Sarabia does.

Sarabia is capable of influencing games when coming off the bench, and while he does it very rarely, such flashes of class are difficult to find.

For all of the lacklustre performances that Pereira has seen from the 32-year-old in the Old Gold, there’s a reason that the Spain international has represented some of the biggest clubs in the world.

As seen above, when Wolves have been in need of a boost in games, Sarabia has been able to turn it on like no other, with his cameo against Ipswich being one instance.

Having a player with the capability of the former Paris Saint-Germain forward has got the Old Gold out of some trialling situations, even if such has been scarce.

Wolves must sufficiently replace Sarabia

Though Wolves fans have loathed Sarabia at points in the season, some thought needs to be had ahead of when the club lose their get out of jail free card.

Yes, the Spaniard is merely a squad player, and yes, he’s not the first name on the teamsheet, but his experience and quality place him in a bracket of players that need replacing for reasons beyond a void to fill.

Leading up to the summer transfer window, Wolves must be proactive when eyeing a replacement for Sarabia, who offers experience at the highest level and moments of utter class.

A quality playmaker must be acquired ahead of the 2025/26 campaign in order to maintain the standard in the squad at present, which is something Pereira will be more than aware of after Sarabia’s display at Portman Road.
