Why sacking Gary O’Neil would be the best decision Wolves ever make – one blueprint proves it

Wolves could be inspired to sack Gary O’Neil after receiving a wake-up call from Bournemouth.

O’Neil spoke about his Wolves future to the media prior to the Old Gold’s crucial clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

This season has been about underperforming and concern for the future at Molineux, with fans unhappy with O’Neil’s work as manager.

Fosun aren’t in a rush to sack O’Neil however, Wolves’ defeat to Bournemouth should have handed the owners a different outlook, given what the Cherries are building.

Wolves should copy Bournemouth and move on from Gary O’Neil

O’Neil was once Bournemouth’s shining light, taking over from Scott Parker to save the day on the South Coast however, his work was not rewarded as hoped.

The Cherries opted to part ways with the Englishman due to their preference for a ‘more experienced, forward-thinking head coach’, as per The Athletic

Andoni Iraola was hired and Bournemouth haven’t looked back after emerging from his baptism of fire, with the Spaniard going from strength to strength, as Wolves experienced first-hand on match day 13.

In the instance of replacing O’Neil with Iraola, the Cherries were rather fortunate as the Englishman’s replacement was out of work after the end of his contract with Rayo Vallecano.

Bournemouth acted fast and hired Iraola, giving him room to make the squad his own, which is something that will surely inspire Wolves.

The Cherries are living proof that the grass is greener without O’Neil in charge but, as we know in football, one size does not fit all.

Wolves success relies on Fosun and January transfer window investment

Even though the consensus is that Wolves need a new manager, football isn’t so simple and this isn’t a game of FIFA.

There’s more that happens behind the scenes than on the pitch, with structure required from the top to the bottom to ensure success.

Bournemouth owner Bill Foley is incredibly ambitious, as seen through his support for the club in and away from the action, with the American having a part in O’Neil’s dismissal.

For Wolves, it’s a different story in that department as Fosun are the opposite, being consistently reluctant to release funds to fix the squad problems.

Wolves fans are far from happy with Fosun’s work over the years, with the club slipping away from their early success under Nuno Espirito Santo.

A new manager being hired is one thing, but earning the support of the owners is another, with there no guarantee that Fosun will offer a helping hand to a new face.

The January transfer window is coming up and could be a real indicator of what the future looks like at Molineux, with Fosun having to invest if there’s a chance of Wolves pulling away from continual mediocrity.
